MIDWEST FOCUS DIRT SERIES GEARS UP FOR FRIDAY OPENER; ROBERTSON WINS
PAVEMENT RACE
INDIANAPOLIS – USAC’s Midwest Ford Focus Dirt Midget Car Series kicks off
Friday at Gas City I-69 Speedway with a host of competitors seeking action
and a victory on the quarter-mile oval.
Among those dreaming of a victory is Indianapolis native James Robertson,
who won a USAC Midwest Ford Focus Pavement Midget Car Series 30-lap feature
Friday at Hawkeye Downs Speedway in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Robertson led all 30
laps in the family-owned No. 42 Robertson Drywall Beast/Ford Focus, topping
two-time Focus champions Tate Martz and Robbie Ray, as well as rookies Casey
Riggs and Mario Clouser.
Martz, another driver running both series and looking for a victory Friday
at Gas City, increased his point lead to 25 over Robertson.
The Gas City event became the season opener after rain postponed the May 19
date at Limaland Motorsports Park.
