AFS 2006 to Feature "Protecting Your Business From Fraud"
Presentation Will Identify Staggering Statistics

BETHESDA, MD - June 5, 2006 - Gerry Zack, G. M. Zack, LLP, will explore the world of occupational fraud in his presentation, "Protecting Your Business From Fraud," during the 2006 Aftermarket Financial Symposium (AFS). Hosted by the Automotive Aftermarket Industry Association (AAIA), the 2006 AFS is scheduled for Sept. 26-27 at the Hyatt Regency O'Hare in Chicago, Ill.

Zack's presentation will reveal some of the creative techniques used by criminals to commit fraud - including their own employees. The session will identify the most common fraud schemes and explain how these schemes are carried out. Participants will learn how to guard against fraud with specific preventive and detective controls. A company-wide model of fraud protection will be explained, enabling attendees to implement an effective defense against this growing threat to their business.

"All businesses are vulnerable to occupational fraud in various forms," Zack said. "For small businesses in particular, the effects can be devastating. However, there are many steps that can be taken to significantly reduce the risk of fraud."

Zack has provided financial services and training for businesses, non-profit organizations and government agencies since 1981. He is a Certified Fraud Examiner and CPA, and is recognized as one of only nine Fellows in the 35,000-member Association of Certified Fraud Examiners. Zack is the author of numerous articles on fraud, and is a frequent speaker at such conferences as the American Institute of Certified Public Accountant's National Business and Industry Conference and the Association of Certified Fraud Examiner's Annual Conference.

AFS is geared toward CEOs, CFOs, financial service providers, investment analysts, CPA firms and others with interests in the automotive aftermarket. As an added benefit to attendees, the 2006 AFS has been authorized to offer 14 continuing professional education (CPE) credit hours for financial professionals that participate in both days of the symposium. For more information on AFS or to register, visit www.aftermarket.org, or contact Susan Medick, CFO, AAIA, at 301-654-6664 or e-mail susan.medick@aftermarket.org.
