Chevron Awards Lima Transportes Ltda as 2005 Global Carrier of the Year; Lima Transportes' Zero Incidents in 2005 Recognized by Chevron with Global Carrier of the Year Award
SAN RAMON, Calif.--June 5, 2006--In recognition of its high standards of operational safety, Chevron Global Marketing today announced Lima Transportes Ltda as the winner of its 2005 Carrier of the Year Award. Lima Transportes Ltda has worked with Chevron in Latin America since 2003, and was awarded Carrier of the Year for the Southern Cone in 2005 for zero accidents, zero mixes and zero spills, working in 11 terminals with 99.35 percent delivery reliability. Key factors that led Lima Transportes to first place include well organized documentation of processes, management's involvement in all issues, a modern fleet and thorough maintenance program, and a strong focus on safety, such as its safety incentive program for drivers."Lima Transportes represents the very excellence that our Carrier of the Year award was developed to celebrate -- a deep commitment to safety and reliability," said Curt Anderson, general manager of Chevron Global Logistics. "As an important part of our operations, we are grateful to Lima Transportes and its employees who take pride in the work they are doing and recognize the importance of delivering our products safely to our customers and their communities."
Chevron's Carrier of the Year award program was created to recognize demonstrated excellence in the implementation of Chevron's Global Road Transport Safety (RTS) management system, and to provide incentive to all contractors to improve their RTS performance. The program is open to all Chevron contractors who have held a contract for a minimum of nine months of the qualifying year and carried at least 10 million gallons of fuel for Chevron during the year. In 2005, 69 carriers met these criteria.
Chevron presents only one global award each year to the carrier that achieves the highest score in accordance with the established criteria. Each major carrier used by Chevron is required to have a Road Transport Management Plan outlining the manner in which they will manage risks associated with carrying Chevron's products. The carrier's plans are expected to meet the intent of Chevron's own RTS plan that is used by its company fleets.
Each year Chevron Global Marketing Logistics delivers more than 13 billion gallons of fuel products, most of which is carried by contractors. During 2005, contract carriers made approximately 1.5 million deliveries on Chevron's behalf in 57 countries.
