24 Heures du Mans Test Day

Flying Lizard Completes Successful Test Day at Le Mans

June 4, 2006--Circuit de la Sarthe, Le Mans, France--The Flying Lizard Motorsports No. 80 Porsche had a successful run at today's test for the upcoming 24 Heures du Mans race in Le Mans, France, June 17-18, 2006. Drivers Johannes van Overbeek, Seth Neiman, and Marc Lieb all took turns at the wheel as the team worked to set up the car for the race. Lieb was third fastest of the 14-car GT2 field over the course of the 8-hour session.

The Flying Lizard GT2 team, from Sonoma, California, is back for their second consecutive 24 Heures du Mans, having finished 3rd in GT2 in 2005. The drivers for the race itself will be Johannes van Overbeek, Seth Neiman, and Patrick Long. Long was unable to join the team for the test due to a scheduling conflict. van Overbeek and Neiman are full-time drivers with the Lizards in the American Le Mans Series (ALMS), and Long is a Porsche factory driver competing with both Penske Racing and Petersen/White Lightning in the ALMS.

van Overbeek, who drove about two hours in the car today, commented on his sessions, "It was great to be back out on the circuit - it's been a year and we needed to refamiliarize ourselves with the track. The first few hours were tough because the track was very dirty - lots of marbles and debris - which was very hard on the tires. Overall, I thought the car was setup very well. It took a few hours on track before we could make substantive changes. But with Marc, Seth and I working with the engineers and crew together over the day, I think we've made some solid progress towards a consistent race car."

The Lizards will be on track again prior to the race on Wed., June 14 and Thu., June 15. For the full schedule see www.lemans.org/24heuresdumans/live/pages/horaires_gb.html
