Rocketsports Racing Milwaukee Report - Friday

WEST ALLIS, Wisconsin (June 2, 2006) – Rocketsports Racing participated in the open Champ Car testing sessions today in Milwaukee with Champ Car rookie Nicky Pastorelli in preparation for Sunday’s Time Warner Cable Road Runner 225 at the famed Milwaukee Mile in West Allis, Wisconsin.

The two-day race event marking Round Five of the Bridgestone Presents The Champ Car World Series Powered by Ford officially kicks off tomorrow, however the Champ Cars were on track this morning and afternoon for some testing time before focusing on the actual event.

The first testing session of the day began at 9:00 a.m. and lasted until the lunch hour. During that time period, Pastorelli ran 68 laps around the one-mile oval, posting his quickest time of the day of 23.909 seconds (155.389 mph).

Heading back out for some more track time, the Italo-Dutch drivers climbed back into the office of his #8 Bavaria City Racing Ford-Cosworth/Lola/Bridgestone in an effort to prepare for his first race on an oval. Due to changing track conditions, most of the Champ Car drivers did not improve their times from the morning, as Pastorelli was one of them. During the second testing session of the day, the 23-year-old driver ran an orbit of 24.618 seconds (150.914 mph) in his Rocketsports rocket. Completing 87 laps in the afternoon, he finished the day running a total of 155 laps.

“We struggled a bit today with a couple of things,” said Pastorelli on his second testing experience in Milwaukee and on an oval. “Hopefully we can solve those problems for tomorrow. I am feeling comfortable out there because I have enough laps completed under my belt now. So, now we just have to work on finding some more speed and we will see what we can find out for tomorrow.”

The Rocketsports team heads out tomorrow morning at 9:00 a.m. Central Time for a two-hour practice session before heading out to qualifying for Sunday’s race.
