Metaldyne Named Finalist for 2006 Techpoint Mira Award

Largest and most prestigious technology awards in the state recognize contributions to the growth of Indiana's economy

PLYMOUTH, Mich., June 2 -- Metaldyne announced today it was named a finalist in the 2006 Techpoint Mira Awards' Advanced Manufacturing category.

Companies in the Advanced Manufacturing category were judged on several key considerations including utilization of advanced technology to enhance business, positive financial performance, sustainability, impact on the industry and market, and accomplishments as an outstanding corporate citizen.

According to Techpoint, these companies serve as model organizations from which others can learn and further enhance Indiana's position as a recognized technology leader.

A capacity crowd including leaders of technology businesses, government and universities gathered recently at the Indiana Roof Ballroom to honor the best and brightest contributors to Indiana's technology-related economy.

Companies in seven categories received top honors. More than 50 companies were nominated for awards. Each of the eligible technology-related industries have fueled the state's economy, brought global recognition to Indiana and improved the quality of life for all Hoosiers.

Metaldyne employs more than 1,600 people at its four manufacturing locations throughout Indiana. Metaldyne New Castle, the company's largest facility, manufactures chassis products for a growing customer base. Metaldyne North Vernon manufactures powder metal products, including fully machined powder metal connecting rods.
