Friday Night Racing Cancelled at SSP

Racing Events Cancelled for Friday Night at SSP
NEWBERRYTOWN, PA (June 2, 2006) – The racing events scheduled for Friday
night, June 2 have been cancelled after the severe thunderstorms that cancelled

systems at the speedway. A thunder strike directly at the speedway blew up
the p.a. system and laptop computer as well as shorting out many of the
electrical circuits around the track. Shortly after the thunder strike, an
unidentified vehicle ran into an electrical pole in front of the speedway thus
causing another temporary blackout the track. The severely damaged pole may not
be fixed for two days by the power company. Also the 90% forecast of more
severe thunderstorms for Friday evening played a role in the early cancellation.
Scheduled for Friday night were the Trail Motors Super Sportsman, Late

Construction race. The Construction race replaces the Mini Van Doughnut Delivery
race which was originally scheduled. The Friday night events will not be
