Verizon Wireless Strengthens Network in Cranberry Twp., PA.; Enhancements to Three Cell Sites Increase Capacity for Area Customers
PITTSBURGH--June 1, 2006--Verizon Wireless has upgraded three of its Cranberry Township-area cell sites, enabling more area customers to use their wireless phones concurrently to make calls, send and receive text and picture messages, and download games and ringtones while enjoying clearer reception and fewer dropped calls.The upgrades increase network capacity at Cranberry Mall and for businesses and travelers along U. S. Route 19 from State Route 228 south to the intersections of Route 19, the Pennsylvania Turnpike and Interstate 79.
"During 2005, call volume on our network in Pennsylvania increased by more than 40 percent," said Roger Tang, president-Ohio/Pennsylvania Region, Verizon Wireless. "These network enhancements reflect our ongoing commitment to meet the growing needs of our customers and to provide them with the reliable, high-quality service they expect from Verizon Wireless."
Verizon Wireless has invested $30 billion in the last six years--$5 billion on average every year since the company was formed--to increase the coverage and capacity of its national network and to add new services. In 2005, Verizon Wireless invested $240 million in its Pennsylvania network.
