Twenty-four “Buschwackers” leave the Busch Series regulars to fight
for best in class.

May 27th, Lowes Motor Speedway. In another Busch Series race
dominated by Nextel Cup regulars, Tim Sauter was able to survive the
newly resurfaced pavement at the historic track and brought the
Lester Buildings Chevy home without a single scratch in 27th
position. Twenty-four drivers who started in the race have attempted
every Cup race this year leaving the Busch Series regulars to fight
for both starting spots and top finishing positions.

The McGill Motorsports driver started the race in the 37th position,
and from the start of the race, the car looked to be competitive
enough for a strong finish. By staying on the track through the first
few early cautions, Tim was able to move up as high as 23rd position.

On lap 74, crew chief Ricky Pearson called for a two-tire stop in an
attempt to gain some track position under the green flag,
unfortunately the team had troubles fueling the car and the extended
stop put Sauter two laps behind the leaders. Tim had his work cut out
for him after the stop as he had fallen back to 38th place. The
Lester Buildings Chevy began moving forward, climbing to 33rd on the
second stop at lap 111. The team made a series of short stops over
the next few cautions to make chassis adjustments and get the car to
handle better for Sauter.

Tim’s only close call came on lap 144 when a multi-car wreck
involving Clint Bowyer and Jon Wood happened right in front of him
coming out of turn 4. The team quickly changed all four tires under
the caution and gained several positions on pit road. At the end of
200 laps Sauter took the checkers in 27th behind winner back-flipping
Carl Edwards. Fourteen of the top twenty spots went to Cup regulars,
Tim’s finish was the tenth highest of the Busch Series regular drivers.

“We brought a brand new car this weekend and it’s going home
unscratched. After the last few weeks tearing stuff up, it feels
really good. This will give the guys back in Spartansburg (at the
race shop) another chance to get cars ready for this long summer
stretch.” explained Sauter. “I’m satisfied, but I am disappointed
that we lost a position to the 77 on the last lap, I got caught up
behind a slower car and Burney got a run on me. I wasn’t going to
tear up this car racing for 26th on the last lap.”

The teams special guest Raine Angelley, a 14-year old Charlotte area
boy whom is awaiting a kidney transplant was treated to a once in a
lifetime opportunity to eat dinner with the McGill Motorsports team,
meet many drivers including Kyle Busch, Jimmie Johnson, Kenny Wallace
and more at the pre-race introductions as well as a ride around the
track prior to the event.

Next week the Lester Buildings sponsored McGill Motorsports team is
headed to Dover, Delaware for the StonebridgeRacing.com 200. Tim had
a top-10 finish at Dover in 2002, and the team is hoping they can
build on this weeks finish and duplicate that finish next weekend.
