Manheim Hosts World Automobile Auctioneer Championship
Dallas-Fort Worth Auto Auction Sets Record Attendance at 2006
Championship
ATLANTA - Manheim's Dallas-Fort Worth Auto Auction, located
in Fort Worth, Texas, recently hosted the 18th annual World Automobile
Auctioneer Championship on May 5 and 6, attracting a record participant
attendance.
Scott Goodhue, of Calhaw, Colo., took first place in the auctioneer
category, receiving the grand prize of $15,000 and a trophy. With a
score of 98.13 out of 100 possible points, Goodhue was one of 80
participants at the event.
"This event attracts the best of the best in the
auctioneering industry," said Frank Post, general manager of Dallas-Fort
Worth Auto Auction. "Judging is based on strict criteria by a quality
panel of judges to ensure that the top auctioneer in the industry is
recognized. I'm proud of the staff at this auction who worked behind
the scenes to make this championship a success."
First-place ringman at the 2006 World Automobile Auctioneer Championship
was Brandy Assiter, of Lubbock, Texas, with a score of 97.73, and the
winners of the team category, which includes both the auctioneer and the
ringman, were Doak Lambert, of Coppel, Texas, and Cody Long, of Cedar
Park, Texas, with a score of 96.59.
Participants were judged on clarity, appearance, product knowledge and
salesmanship, interaction with dealers and other factors.
Judges came from Canada, Australia, England and the United States and
represented Manheim, DaimlerChrysler, Volkswagen Credit, Audi, Ford
Remarketing, North Star Auto Auction, Barrett Jackson and others.
The auction sold 713 vehicles of the 797 that ran in the lanes. More
than 600 dealers attended the auction and participated via Simulcast.
The 2007 World Automobile Auctioneer Championship will take place at
Manheim's Central Florida Auto Auction in Orlando, Fla.
