City CarShare Celebrates 5th Birthday, Last VW Beetle to be Retired 
House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi to Accept City CarShare 
Partner of the Year Award

WHAT: 	House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi will be honored tonight as City
CarShare's "Partner of the Year" at the organization's 5th Birthday Party.
As part of the celebrations for its 5th Birthday, City CarShare will retire
the last of its fleet of beloved and iconic green VW Beetles.

WHY:	Since 2001, more than 5,000 City CarShare members have helped to
reduce traffic, parking problems, and dependence on oil--while promoting
cleaner air, quieter streets, and more open space. City CarShare is the
largest nonprofit car-sharing organization in the U.S., serving over 5,000
active members with over 130 vehicles in more than 70 locations throughout
the Bay Area

Green VW Beetles have been ubiquitous throughout the Bay Area and have
become a symbol of City CarShare. The last green Beetle will be retired to
make way for a new fleet of cars, trucks, hybrids and convertibles that
make City CarShare's fleet more reliable and get significantly better gas
mileage.
