WESTERN SPRINTS AT MADERA SATURDAY

The USAC Western Sprint Car Series returns to Madera (Calif.) Speedway Saturday night with at least three drivers expected to shoot it out for the series point lead.

Two-time champion Tony Hunt of Lincoln, Calif. leads the standings, 18 ahead of Mike Murgoitio of Meridian, Idaho and 26 ahead of youngster Bradley Galedrige of Los Altos, Calif. Murgoitio and Galedrige have both posted "top-10" finishes in each of this year's three Western Sprint races. Murgoitio was the fastest qualifier for the first two races this season and Galedrige earned his first Sprint triumph May 13 at Tracy, Calif.

Hunt recorded his 16th series win in the 2006 opener at Stockton, Calif., but defending series champion Kody Swanson of Kingsburg, Calif. won at Madera April 29.
