WESTERN MIDGETS RESUME JUNE 10 AT VENTURA

RAHE, HANSEN GRAB USA RACE PARK FEATURES

Tyler Brown of Norco, Calif. holds a 23-point lead over defending USAC Western Midget Champion Jerome Rodela going into a June 10 race at Ventura (Calif.) Raceway.

Rodela remained in title contention over the weekend with a fifth-place finish at USA Race Park in Tucson, Ariz.

California drivers Chris Rahe of Placentia and Garrett Hansen of Manhattan Beach earned victories at Tucson in Saturday and Sunday events at the 3/8-mile dirt oval. Rahe led all 30 laps Saturday to beat Johnny Rodriguez, Brown, Greg Bragg and Chase Barber. Hansen won Sunday's accident-shortened race, leading all but one of the 35 contested laps to beat Barber, Rodriguez, Mike Leslie and Rodela.

Matt Mitchell of Yorba Linda, Calif. has been discharged from St. Mary's Hospital in Tucson after treatment for leg burns suffered when his driveshaft broke, forcing the halt of Sunday's feature.
