FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

!!! BRISCOE TAKES SEASON'S FIRST !!!

HUMPHREY IS FIRST MODIFIED REPEAT WINNER

HINES ALSO REPEATS

BLOOMINGTON, IN (May 27, 2006) - Going into the biggest racing weekend of the season, it was apparent that the hardcore race fans could not get started too soon. The hillside was full of peopled who knew that they might well see the best racing of the weekend on the red clay of Bloomington Speedway last night.

One of our regular fans, Dave Foist, is a director of the Association of Race Fan Clubs; and he will have to be at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for a breakfast this morning. This was after spending all day at the speedway for carb day. He indicated that he considered missing our show last night. He commented, "I thought about missing tonight; but, as I was getting ready to leave the speedway, one of my buddies told me that he had heard a rumor that Mike Miles was going to cancel the races because he heard that I wasn't coming. I couldn't let that happen."

Of course, Dave was exaggerating; but we have a lot of fans who are just about that loyal; and we can't say too often how much we appreciate them.

SPRINT CARS -

Kevin Briscoe has been the man to beat at Bloomington Speedway for years. Of course, he hasn't always won the championship. However, that has often been because he missed a race or two. However, last night's race was the sixth of the season; and Kevin had not yet scored a feature win. From 2000 through 2005, the latest Kevin won his first feature was the third race of the season. More than likely neither Kevin nor his father could tell you why they got a slow start this season. If they knew, they would have done something about it. Of course, the fact that Jon Stanbrough and Dick Gaines II have been red hot might have had a little something to do with it.

The luck of the draw gave Kevin a sixth place starting position in his heat race. He finished second to Jon Stanbrough who had started on the outside of the front row.

The redraw that aligned the front of the sprint car feature put Hunter Schuerenberg and Brady Short on the front row with Briscoe and Kenny Carmichael, Sr.in the second row and Jon Stanbrough and Derek Scheffel in row three. When the green flag dropped to start the feature, Schuerenberg took the lead with Briscoe and Brady Short in tow. At the end of the second lap, Kevin was in the lead ahead of Short, Schuerenberg, and Carmichael, Sr. At the end of the tenth circuit, the first four cars were the same; but Stanbrough had the Danny Roberts sprinter in fifth place. On the 12th lap Stanbrough passed Carmichael to take fourth. On the 14th lap Stanbrough took third. On the 15th lap Carmichael took fourth. They would run in that order until the checkered flag waved. While all of the frontrunners kept Briscoe in range, Kevin was not going to be denied his first feature win of the season.

In preliminary action, Short, Stanbrough, and Carmichael, Sr. took the heat races while Bobby Stines prevailed in the hoolidgan.

0'NEAL WOOD PRODUCTS MODIFIEDS -

In the O'Neal Wood Product modified division, Jesse Cramer, Brandon Short, and Ray Humphrey won their heat races; and Rocky Kugel took the "B" feature. The redraw to align the feature put J.P. Hume and Brandon Short on the front to start the feature. Lee Hobbs and Clint DeMoss made up the second row; and defending O'Neal Wood Products modified champion Jesse Cramer and Ray Humphrey were in the third row. Last night marked the first time that Brandon Short had raced on the red clay of Bloomington Speedway in several years it was impressive that he could win his heat race the first time back in so many years.

When the green flag started the feature J.P. Hume took the lead followed by Brandon Short, Hobbs, Cramer, and Clint DeMoss. However, Don Parsons spun in turn four necessitating a complete restart.

The restart resulted in Hume continuing to hold the lead with frontrunners still in the same order. On the third lap, Clint DeMoss passed Cramer to take fourth; however, on the next lap, Cramer regained the position. Ray Humphrey held onto sixth position; but he was clearly fast and headed for the front. By the end of the sixth lap Ray was fourth; and, on the tenth circuit, he passed the wily Hobbs to take second place.

On the 16th lap Humphrey passed Hume to take the lead. On the 19th lap Hobbs and Jeff Bland, Jr. passed Hume to take second and third. While Bland had third place, Hume wasn't going to let it go that easily. Hume and Bland waged a terrific battle for the rest of the distance to the checkered flags.

Humphrey had won his second feature of the season. Hobbs had to settle for second place; and Bland won the duel with Hume to take third. Hume and Cramer rounded out the top five.

Humphrey was 12th in the points going into last night's competition; and his second win will move him up in the points. His worst finish this season has been a fifth; however, he missed last week. That was, of course, how he found himself in 12th place going into last night's competition. So long as Humphrey doesn't miss another race and continues to run as well as he has so far this season, he will be hard to beat for the championship. However, that is a very tall order. With all of the strong competitors that we have in the O'Neal Wood Products modified division, the consistently good finishes that he has had so far will be nearly impossible to maintain. But he still has a reasonable chance of taking the championship. The missed race puts him in a sizable hole; but he has the ability and equipment to get the job done. Some racing luck will also be needed; but it always is.

Tire & Wheel Center Super Stocks:

Going into last night's competition, Jeremy Hines held a razor thin seven point lead over Joe Lucas. Jeremy's best finish in the points until now was a second; and Jeremy would very much like to finally take the Tire & Wheel Center super stock championship. Going into last night's competition Jeremy had a win, three second place finishes and one sixth. With that kind of record, it is a wonder that his lead in the points race is only seven points. That is evidence of how fierce the competition for Bloomington Speedway championships is.

Tire & Wheel Center super stock competition got underway with Kevin Arthur, Hines, and Winston Howe taking the heat race victories. Ben DuBois won the "B" feature.

The redraw put Gerald Todd and Joe Lucas on the front row followed by Steve Hollars, Kevin Arthur, Winston Howe and Hines.

When the feature began Gerald Todd took the point followed by Joe Lucars, Kevin Arthur and Hines. During the second lap Hines moved up to third; and, on the sixth lap, he passed Lucas to take second; and, on the eighth lap, he passed Todd to take the lead which he would hold until the checkered flags waved. However, the battle for the win was fierce; and Hines certainly earned his second Tire and Wheel Center super stock feature win. Lucas held on to grab a third place finish. This should help him to maintain his second place position in the points race. Kevin Arthur and Troy Clark rounded out the top five.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

STEVE KINSER

RETURNS TO

BLOOMINGTON SPEEDWAY

ON FRIDAY, JUNE 2

BLOOMINGTON, IN (May 21) - Although Steve Kinser lives only a couple of miles away from the red clay of Bloomington Speedway, it's been seven years since he raced there. All spring he has been looking forward to the opportunity to again race in front of his friends and neighbors. Whenever Steve rolls onto the track, he is the heavy favorite to win; and it is pretty certain that he will have a bigger edge on the red clay.

It so happens that June 2nd is Steve's birthday; and we will be trying to help make this his favorite birthday party ever. Steve's father, Bob Kinser, will be the Grand Marshall of the event. Also, Larry Crane will present a concert beginning when the gates open at 3:00 pm and continuing until hot laps.

In connection with this special race, Steve is holding an open house from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at his shop located at 280 East Smithville Road on the South side of Bloomington. Don't miss this opportunity to see a great race shop.

However, as heavy a favorite as Steve is, he is by no means a lock. As a matter of fact, he is currently only fourth in the National Sprint Tour points. But, Steve's other car, driven by Tim Kaeding, leads the points. Kaeding is trailed by Jason Meyers, Danny Lasoski, Steve, Tim Shaffer, Jason Sides, Jason Solwold, Paul McMahan, Brian Paulus, and Shane Stewart.

In addtion to the National Sprint Tour regulars it is likely that a number of the World of Outlaws competitors will show up to get in an extra race as they are idle on June 2nd and run at Eldora on June 3rd..

In addition to those who travel with the National Sprint Tour and the World of Outlaws, it is certain that many of those who race with the All Star Circuit of Champions and other regional series will also show up.

Sharing the program with the winged sprint cars will be non winged sprint cars. With the large fields of cars that have been unloading every week, the pits should be full of sprint cars. Some might think that they've made a wrong turn somewhere and ended up in Knoxville, Iowa in August.

Kevin Briscoe advised that he intends to bring both a winged car and his regular non winged car and race both programs. Other of our regular competitors are likely to run both ways as well.

Mike Miles always tries to book a winged show to add some variety to our schedule; however, this should be the best winged sprint program that we've had in years.

The National Sprint Tour feature will pay $10,000 to win and $1,000 to start; and the non winged feature will pay $2,000 to win.

Gates will open at 3:00 PM , hot laps will start at 6:30 PM, and racing will begin at 7:30 PM. General admission is $30 for this event (children eight and under are admitted free to the grandstand when accompanied by a paying adult). and pit admission is $40. Coolers are permitted; but glass containers aren't. Overnight camping is also permitted.

For advance General Admission Tickets, Call 812-275-8464 (Monday - Friday 8 to 5)

18TH ANNUAL SHELDON KINSER MEMORIAL

Hosted by Reese Wholesale

SPRINT CARS

$3000 TO WIN PLUS LAP PRIZE MONEY

PLUS - O'NEAL WOOD PRODUCTS MODIFIEDS,

AND TIRE & WHEEL CENTER SUPER STOCKS

BLOOMINGTON, IN (May 28, 2006) - No place is more appropriate for a memorial to Sheldon Kinser than the famous red clay oval that is Bloomington Speedway. Most fans remember Sheldon for the daring that he displayed on race tracks from coast to coast. He raced on tracks from quarter mile bull rings in sprints and midgets to mile dirt ovals in USAC champ dirt cars (now Silver Crown) to the superspeedways where he competed with the best in champ cars.

The Sheldon Kinser Memorial is one of the premier sprint car races of the season every year.

Most of the drivers who will be in competition on June 9, never raced against Sheldon Kinser. In fact, it is likely that the majority of them never saw Sheldon race. However, most drivers appreciate the history of this race and the driver in whose honor it is run.

Of course, Kevin Briscoe cherishes his previous Sheldon Kinser Memorial trophies; but he'd certainly like to add another to the two that he already has. Bryan Clauson, Kent Christian, Kevin "Pup" Huntley all would like to add their name to the prestigious list of Sheldon Kinser Memorial winners. Four time Bloomington Speedway sprint car champion Derek Scheffel is back in action this season driving the Hurst Brothers sprinter; and there is probably no driver who would prize the title of "Sheldon Kinser Memorial Champion" more highly than Derek. To improve his odds a little more, the Hurst Brothers have just purchased a new chassis from Dick Briscoe.

Last year's Sheldon Kinser Memorial champion, Dick Gaines II, would certainly like to defend his title; however, it remains to be seen whether or not he will be recovered from the injuries suffered earlier this season at Eldora Speedway. According to Dick's crew chief, Darrell Tate, Gaines is expected to be cleared to drive around June 11. It seems likely that Gaines will not permit two days to keep him off of the red clay of Bloomington Speedway.

As if there weren't enough Bloomington Speedway regulars after the title, the USAC sprint division is idle on the ninth; and it is almost certain that a number of their stars will show up to try to grab the big money away from the local stars.

In addition to the sprints, the O'Neal Wood Products open wheel modifieds and the Tire & Wheel Centers super stocks will also be in competition that night. They will be running for $600 to win with proper decals.

Don't miss this great race. General Admission is only $15 (Kids 6 and under are admitted free and kids 7 to 12 are admitted for $5 when accompanied by a paying adult.) Pit admission is $25. Parking and overnight camping are free. Coolers are allowed; but glass containers are prohibited.

Pit gates open at 4:30 PM; and the grandstand opens at 5:30 PM. Hot Laps begin at 6:30 PM; and racing begins at 7:30 PM. BE THERE!
