Kanaan Brings Team 7-Eleven Car
Home Fifth at 90th Running of the Indianapolis 500

SPEEDWAY, Ind. (May 28, 2006) - Team 7-Eleven driver Tony Kanaan earned a hard-fought fifth-
place finish at the 90th running of the Indianapolis 500 Sunday afternoon.
Starting from fifth place on the starting grid, Kanaan kept the #11 Team 7-Eleven
Dallara/Honda/Firestone among the top-five throughout the event, moving into the lead on lap 183. He
proceeded to lead the next 11 laps before making a late pit stop for fuel during a caution period. That
dropped the Team 7-Eleven car into seventh place with several lapped cars separating Kanaan from the
leaders. He managed to overtake two competitors to bring the car home in fifth place.
Sam Hornish Jr. took the victory with NYSE driver Marco Andretti second, Jim Beam/Vonage driver
Michael Andretti third and Dan Wheldon fourth. Through four events, Kanaan stands fifth in the driver point
standings with 119 points, one behind fourth-place Scott Dixon and 37 points shy of leader Helio
Castroneves.
Next up for Kanaan and the entire IndyCar Series is the Watkins Glen Indy Grand Prix on Sunday,
June 4. The event will be televised live by ABC Sports, beginning at 3:30 p.m. (EDT). It can also be heard
live by XM Satellite Radio subscribers by tuning into XM channel 145.

Tony Kanaan, #11 Team 7-Eleven Dallara/Honda/Firestone:
"It doesn't matter. Everybody is going to see who won, and it was Sam Hornish, so congratulations
to him. For sure, inside myself, I am 100 percent comfortable I gave everything I could. Now, if it was just
under my control, I probably would have won it today, but a lot of things need to fall in place together so we
will try it again and again and again, and one day, we'll get it."

Kim Green, President, Andretti Green Racing:
"The last yellow was very untimely for Team 7-Eleven, otherwise I think we were in a position for a
splash-and-go under green and could have won it. It was a hell of a race. I'm so proud of everyone with
Team 7-Eleven. We had great stops, Tony drove a great race with a really good race car. We just didn't
quite get it at the end."
