Close not close enough for Line

TOPEKA, Kan. (May 27, 2006) - On the wrong side of close, Jason Line, in
the KB Racing-owned, Summit Racing Equipment-backed Pro Stock Pontiac
GTO, was turned back by Allen Johnson by six thousandth of a second in
the opening round of eliminations at the 18th running of the NHRA
O'Reilly Summer Nationals.

Both drivers ran identical passes of 6.852 seconds and nearly identical
speeds - 201.15 for Line and 201.01 for Johnson. Johnson gained an
advantage at the green light of .006 seconds and carried that advantage
across the finish line, winning by .006 seconds.

"You hate to lose any race. Being close doesn't make it feel any
better. A loss is a loss," said Line, following the opening round loss
at Heartland Park Topeka. "I could say that if I would have driven
better, I may have won. The fact of the matter is that no matter what I
say, it doesn't change the outcome. Today is over for me and my Summit
Racing Pontiac. Now I turn my attention to Chicago."

When final points are posted for this event, Line, who was born in
Wright, Minn. and current lives in Terrell, N.C., will remain second in
points in the NHRA POWERade Pro Stock point standings.

ESPN2 will air three hours of same-day television coverage of
eliminations from the NHRA O'Reilly Summer Nationals at 10 p.m. this
evening, May 28. The elimination show repeats early Tuesday morning
(May 30) from 3-5 a.m. Television times are Eastern Time (ET) and
subject to change at anytime. Check local listings.

After a short break, next up for Line and his KB Racing LLC/Summit
Racing Equipment Pontiac is the NHRA CARQUEST Auto Parts Nationals,
which will be held June 8-11 at Route 66 Raceway in Joliet, Ill., near
Chicago.
