Tremont Returns to Victory Lane; Corbin Too, Tryon Takes His
First!

Saturday May 27, 2006 – By: Rodney Rescott

New Lebanon, NY: Lebanon Valley Speedway put the warm, sunny weather to
good use, as the racers, and fans packed the Valley of Speed for a night of
hot action, a little controversy, and the return of a legend to victory
lane. Also, the near capacity crowd witnessed another different winner in
Pro Stocks, and a career first in the Sportsman Division. Oh yeah, the
358’s had quite the show too.

Earthworm Equipment and Funplex Funpark presented the 30 lap, Modified
feature event. And as the field came to the green by Paul Gilardi and
Jeremy Matthias, by the time the field reached the 2nd turn, the “Sand Lake
Slingshot”, Kenny Tremont finally had a car to contend for the victory, and
he wasn’t shy in showing it. By the time the rest of the field made its
second circuit, Tremont already made quick work of Matthias and passed the
#87X to take over the top spot.

The field was slowed by a few cautions throughout the feature event. But
there was nothing that was going to deny Tremont from getting into the
winners circle for the first time in 2006. He wheeled his famous #115 Fane
Concrete, Dougherty Brothers Construction Bicknell acrossed the line first,
followed by a strong finish by Brian Berger. Berger’s #60 was followed by
J.R. Heffner, Andy Bachetti, and Donnie Corellis to complete your top 5.

The Benjamin Moore 358 Super Series was also on tap, and the temperature
didn’t drop after the sun went down, the action just kept heating up. The
#43 of Keith Flach brought the field to the green of their 24 lap feature
event. And by lap 6, J.R. Heffner drove his Goodemote #5 to the front, and
never looked back. Andy Bachetti and Donnie Corellis charged through the
field, but didn’t have enough to get to Heffner. At the checkers, Heffner
crossed the line first, but was later disqualified in post-race inspection
due to illegal heads, giving the win to Bachetti. With Bachetti taking the
win, everyone else moved up one spot, giving second place to Donnie
Corellis, third was Ray Hoard, Roy Bridge, and Matt Quinn rounded out the
top 5.

The Funplex Funpark Sportsman 20 lap feature event produced a first time
winner, as Chris Tryon charged from his 4th starting position to take the
lead from Danny Burl on lap 5, and checked out on the field. Once out
front, there was no denying him the win. Following Tryon across the finish
line was Art Collins driving the Lavoy #3, third was Burl, but was also
disqualified in post-race inspection due to an illegal gear, giving third to
Ryan Larkin. An impressive fourth place went to Kevin Lynch aboard his #09,
followed by Jeff Watson to finish out the top 5.

The Pro Stock Action was also hot and heavy as defending champ Rob Yetman
had several rounds of bad luck, but charged back to finish just outside the
top 5. That left the door wide open for another different winner to reach
the famed winners circle at the high banks. Kevin Arnold, who also ran into
some trouble early in the event, was has been the only other winner in the
pro Stocks to date, other than Yetman, was relegated to a 9th place finish
due to damage. Jay Corbin decided it was his turn, and he took the lead at
about the halfway point, and covered the field to take the checkers. Don
Carlson and Paul LaRochelle tried several times to get Corbin, but came up
short as the finished 2nd and 3rd respectively. Crossing the line 4th was
Mike Middleton, and Rob Langevin rounded out the top 5. Lori Carey, who
flipped her #96 on lap 12, was able to walk away with minor bumps and
bruises finishing in the 19th spot.

The Limited (Rookie) Pro Stocks saw another last lap battle for the win, but
this time it was Nick Hilt who was the strongest. Hilt took the win, the
first of 2006, followed by Kyle Hosier, George Miles Jr., Brian Keough, and
John Santolin as the top 5.

The Pure Stocks had well over 50 cars on tap to take the green, divided into
4 events. The winners of the Earthworm Equipment Pure Stock events were:
PS#1 Mike Eichstedt, Jesse Murphy took PS#2. Ps#3 was won by Pete Wiegand,
and PS#4 was taken by Kevin Winters.

See below for the complete finishes in all divisions.

Next week, Key Bank and Wohrle’s, along with Boomer’s Performance Pure Stock
Clash present the night of action at the High Banks of Lebanon Valley. For
