WJ Will Roll Off 12th in Topeka

Event: 18th Annual O'Reilly NHRA Summernationals

Day/Date: Saturday, May 27, 2006

Location: Heartland Park Topeka, Topeka, KS

For the first time in the 2006 POWERade Drag Racing season, the Pro
Stock contingent faced consistently high temperatures throughout
qualifying for the O'Reilly NHRA Summernationals in Topeka, KS. With
the blistering temperatures and headwind combining to slow the normally
aspirated "factory hot rods", teams struggled to make the most of the
conditions and secure a spot in Sunday's final eliminations.

Warren Johnson and the GM Performance Parts GTO Racing team were among
those who overcame the oppressive weather conditions, earning the 12th
position with their 6.847-second, 202.15 mph pass on Friday evening.
Although he fought to find the proper combination during Saturday's
attempts, at the conclusion of qualifying, Johnson was already putting
together his game plan for race day.

"Although we would have preferred to gather data with today's runs, we
have enough information on both our GM Performance Parts GTO in the
heat, as well as information on this Topeka track from Friday to give us
a good direction for tomorrow.

"Our first two runs certainly weren't picture perfect, but we were able
to make some adjustments and improve on our previous effort, even though
we left about three hundredths on the table in the evening session.

"We'll look back at our notes and find conditions that are
representative, at least atmospherically, to what we expect for
tomorrow. We'll take that information, sort through it to see what is
applicable and hone in on a combination, doing whatever we can to make
it a long day."
