Honda to Build $25 Million Parts Center in Ohio
Washington DC May 26, 2006; The AIADA newsletter reported that American Honda Motor Co. Inc. is building a 530,000-square-foot parts-distribution hub in Troy, Ohio.
The building will have a warehouse and an operations support office. The site will be on 58 acres next to a parts center that Honda already operates, according to Automotive News. "As Honda continues to grow its business in the United States, facilities such as the new Troy domestic parts-distribution hub are essential," James Roach, senior vice president of American Honda's parts division, said in a statement.
Suppliers will ship parts directly to the distribution hub and will either be kept in inventory or shipped to parts centers, which supply dealers, said a Honda spokeswoman.
Construction is scheduled to start this fall and will be completed in fall 2007. The center is expected to employ 210 people, 100 of whom will come from the current Troy parts center.
