The team ran this chassis for the first time last weekend in the NEXTEL Open. Stremme piloted it to a sixth-place finish around the 1.5-mile track. * NEXTEL Open: Last weekend at Lowe's Motor Speedway, Stremme battled to finish sixth in his first NEXTEL Open on Saturday night under the lights. He started the 30-lap event ninth and was able to work his way up three spots to bring home a strong finish in his Lone Star Steakhouse & Saloon Dodge. * Ellis Charity Auction This Thursday: Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates (CGRFS) is hosting a memorial charity auction this Thursday, May 25, to honor the loss of teammate Bill Ellis, who passed away last month at the young age of 42. CGRFS is holding a live and silent charity auction at its Concord, N.C. shop from 1 to 4 p.m. ET, with all proceeds going directly to the trust currently being set up for Ellis' wife and children. The team welcomes everyone to attend. Admission is free. The main event will take place 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Casey Mears, Reed Sorenson and David Stremme will all be present to meet fans and sign autographs. *Wristbands for the autograph session are no longer available, but more autographs will be permitted as time allows. * Rookie Ranks: Stremme is currently sixth in the Raybestos Rookie of the Year standings. Stremme, with 77 points, is 42 points behind leader Denny Hamlin. * NASCAR NEXTEL Cup points standings: Stremme maintained his 36th spot in the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup championship points standings.
