NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series
Mansfield Motorsports Speedway -- May 27, 2006
THIS RACE: The City of Mansfield 250 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series (NCTS) race at Mansfield
Motorsports Speedway will be the third Craftsman Truck Series event at the track. There will be nine Toyota
Tundras in the field at the Ohio half-mile oval.
LAST RACE: In the most recent race of the 2006 NCTS season at Lowe's Motor Speedway (May 19), two
Tundra drivers finished among the top-five. Todd Bodine, driver of the No. 30 Lumber Liquidators Tundra,
crossed the finish line third and Ted Musgrave, driver of the No. 9 Team ASE Tundra, finished fourth.
TODD'S TOP-FIVES: Todd Bodine's third-place finish at Lowe's Motor Speedway was his fifth top-five finish
in six starts this season. Along with his third-place finish at Charlotte, Bodine has two wins (Atlanta and St.
Louis) and a pair of second-place finishes (Daytona and California.)
TODD TALKS TITLE: "It was another good night for Germain Racing -- I was third and Teddy (Musgrave)
was fourth," said Todd Bodine, following the Charlotte race. "And, that's how you win championships. If you
don't have the best truck, you just finish up there the best you can. That's what we did. Basically, we started last
at Lowe's when we came in on our first stop to adjust the truck because it was handling terrible."
TOYOTA TAKES 21st: Mike Skinner, driver of the No. 5 Bill Davis Racing Tundra, captured the pole position
at Lowe's Motor Speedway. It was the 21st NCTS pole position for a Tundra since Toyota began competing in
the Craftsman Truck Series at the beginning of the 2004 season. In addition, it was the first pole of the 2006
season for Skinner, as well as his 10th pole in a Toyota and the 25th of his Craftsman Truck Series career. Along
with Skinner (10), drivers who have recorded poles driving Tundras include David Reutimann (five), Bill Lester
(two), Brandon Whitt (two), Todd Bodine (one) and Travis Kvapil (one).
TOYOTA HAS 16: Toyota has 16 NCTS wins since the Tundra began competing in the Craftsman Truck Series
at the beginning of the 2004 season. Along with three wins this year, Tundras finished first nine times in 2005
and four times in 2004. Drivers who have recorded wins driving Tundras include Todd Bodine (nine), Travis
Kvapil (two), Mike Skinner (two), David Reutimann (one), David Starr (one) and Brandon Whitt (one).
BODINE BY THE NUMBERS: In three seasons driving the No. 30 Tundra for Germain Racing, Todd Bodine
has recorded nine wins in just 29 starts. In 2004, Bodine visited 'Victory Lane' twice in eight starts and last
season Bodine had five wins in 15 races with the Germain team. This year, the 42-year-old veteran has a pair of
wins (St. Louis and Martinsville) in six starts.
TED'S TOP-FIVES: Ted Musgrave has guided his No. 9 Team ASE Tundra to top-five finishes in all six races
this year. In the first two races of the 2006 season -- at Daytona and California -- the Wisconsin-native finished
third, and he was second at St. Louis and Martinsville. The 2005 series champion finished fourth at Atlanta and
in the most recent race at Charlotte.
POINTS PACE: After the first six races of the 2006 season, six Toyota drivers are among the top-10 in the
NCTS championship point standings. Todd Bodine sits atop the championship standings with 1,017 points.
Trailing Bodine in the standings are second-place Ted Musgrave (1,000 points), third-place David Reutimann
(896 points), sixth-place Johnny Benson (788 points), seventh-place David Starr (783 points) and ninth-place Jack
Sprague (765 points).
LAST YEAR AT MANSFIELD: A year ago at Mansfield, Todd Bodine was the top finishing Toyota when he
recorded a 16th-place result.
ONE WIN AT MANSFIELD: Jack Sprague, who began driving the No. 60 Con-Way Tundra at the end of last
season, captured the checkered flag in the debut of the Craftsman Truck Series at Mansfield in 2004.
FOLLOWING HIS FATHER: David Starr, driver of the No. 11 Red Horse Racing Tundra, followed his
father's footsteps into the world of racing. "When I was a kid growing up, my dad worked for Tony
Bettenhausen, Jr., - - a big name in Indy car racing," says Starr. "My dad worked with him as a crew chief in the
NASCAR Sportsman's Series -- which is now the Busch Grand National Series. My mom put a stop to that
because he was always on the road. My dad quit that when I was about seven years old, but it always stuck with
me and I always wanted to be a race car driver."
JOEY'S JUMP: This is Joey Miller's rookie season in the Craftsman Truck Series, after competing in the
ARCA series a year ago. "There's not really that much difference between the ARCA cars I ran last year and the
Tundra I run in the Craftsman Truck Series," says Miller. "They're both race cars -- or I guess a race car and a
race truck - - but there are differences in the aerodynamics. The truck is like a big brick and it slows down much
more, so at a lot of mile-and-a-half tracks you're running wide open. In a car, you'd actually be using the brake
pedal -- so it takes some getting used to that."
TED ON TOYOTA: This is Ted Musgrave's first season driving the No. 9 Team ASE Tundra. "I remember
looking at a lot of back bumpers of Toyotas last year," says Musgrave. "I figured I might as well join Toyota and
see what the front of them looked like for once. I believe that right now the way they handle the product, and the
way people are communicating in the garage between the teams -- it's a win-win situation for anybody that's
sitting behind the wheel of a Tundra."
ALL FOR TWO: Two Tundra drivers have competed in every race since Toyota joined the Craftsman Truck
Series at the beginning of the 2004 season. Mike Skinner (Bill Davis Racing) and David Reutimann (Darrell
Waltrip Motorsports) have started 56 consecutive races in Toyotas. Both drivers have started every NCTS event
in 2004 (25 races) and 2005 (25 races), as well as six races this year.
