Mitsubishi PK10 PocketProjectors(TM) Shine in New Mitsubishi Car; Concept CT Boasts Two PocketProjectors from Mitsubishi Digital Electronics America

IRVINE, Calif.--May 23, 2006--When Mitsubishi Motors North America unveiled their new Concept CT car at the North American Auto Show earlier this year, their designers looked beyond conventional vehicle architecture and created a whole new type of small car platform. With a new vision of an automobile in mind, they needed an innovative device that could project standard instrument panel displays, as well as an intelligent informational display that combines data, video and driver information. Enter Mitsubishi Digital Electronics America's revolutionary LED PocketProjector(TM).

"The size of the projector was the most important factor when we designed the Concept CT's instrument panel, as it had to occupy as little space as possible," said Robert Burns, interior designer of the Concept CT at Mitsubishi Motors North America. "No other company had a projector of this size and versatility, and it's great that it comes from a Mitsubishi company."

Designed at the Mitsubishi Motors Design Center in Cypress, Calif., the Concept CT uses two PocketProjectors installed under the front hood, projecting rearwards onto a translucent acrylic projection screen. The unique curved format "wall to wall" panel displays information for navigation, time telemetry, front and rear camera images, drive train performance status and rear/side-view mirror functions. Entertainment functions are also displayed when the car is in park.

"We knew there would be a host of innovative applications using the PocketProjector," said Frank Anzures, product manager, projector product marketing for Mitsubishi Digital Electronics America. "We're pleased that Mitsubishi Motors selected the PocketProjector for its Concept CT."

Believed to be the world's smallest projector, Mitsubishi's PocketProjector brings projection technology anywhere and everywhere. Unlike other projectors on the market, the PocketProjector uses three LEDs (red, green and blue) to create an image, which allows for instant on/off, virtually noiseless operation, minimal heat, and no conventional lamps to replace. An optional battery pack makes the PocketProjector even more portable for use as a personal presentation tool for business settings or for mobile family fun. Almost any device with a video-out can be connected such as a laptop, cell phone, digital camera, gaming gadget or DVD player for on-the-fly family entertainment.

"The size of the projectors is deceiving; they really pack a lot of visual punch," added Brent Wickham, senior style CAD designer on the Concept CT. "We were also impressed with the low heat levels and ease of installation."
