Douglas Motorsports - Championship Off-Road Racing Round 1 & 2 Race Report

Scott Douglas and his Douglas Motorsports will be competing in both
PRO-2 (Full Size Truck 2WD) and PRO-4 (Full Size Truck 4WD). The #7
Ford F-150 PRO-2 truck continues with Rancho Suspension as lead
sponsor and the newly completed #7 Ford F-150 PRO-4 truck is part of
the Amsoil Off-Road Super Team. This combined with their Ford Explorer
?Best in the Desert? race program keeps the team busy all year long.

Round 1
  PRO-2
After qualifying in the front row on Friday, Scott and his team were
hoping for a good start. The starting grid saw some seasoned desert
racing names racing as CORR rookies. The competition was going to be
really intense for the season opener.
The start saw Scott and his #7 Rancho Suspension Amsoil Kumho Tires
Ford F-150 get cleanly through Turn One. After lap 3 Scott worked his
way into 6th position. After the competition yellow, the leaders
began dropping out. Suddenly at the finish, Scott made it to the
podium in 3rd place.

In his TV interview Scott let the crowd know that his engine was only
running on 6 cylinders. Standing on the podium after dealing with an
ailing powerplant was a really accomplishment.

PRO-4
This was the first time out in the just completed #7 Amsoil Rancho
Suspension Kumho Tire Ford F-150 and the was just looking for a
respectable finish to build on for the coming weeks.

After qualifying 6th on Friday, the team was very optimistic for a
strong finish. As the race progressed, Scott was running in 6th
position battling with Curt LeDuc. On lap 6 LeDuc made contact going
into Turn 2 causing Scott to roll. Fortunately the #7 Amsoil truck was
able to continue on, but at a reduced pace. At the flag, Scott
finished 11th. Afterward the officials were meeting to discuss the
LeDuc-Douglas incident to determine if a penalty should be assessed.
More will be known after the race weekend.

Round 2
Scott Douglas and his Douglas Motorsports went to work Saturday night
as the crew replaced the engine in the Pro-2
Truck as well as repairing the damage on the Pro-4 from the Round 1 rollover.

PRO-2
At the start Scott found himself in 7th spot heading for Turn 2. The
field was running really tight and Scott was holding his own as the #7
Rancho Suspension Amsoil Kumho Tires Ford F-150 felt really strong.
While running in 6th place Scott made contact with Probst as the two
run side by side going through the whoop section. Suddenly Scott
turned into Probst. That brought out a black flag, which brought Scott
in for a stop-n-go penalty. After the competition yellow restart,
Scott found himself side by side with Taylor, the two made racing
contact, and it caused the right front wheel to break, ending the
Pro-2 race for Scott. He was credited with a 15th place at the end of
the day.

PRO-4
After the Round 1, the team was looking for a solid finish to build on
for Crandon.

At the start Scott and his #7 Amsoil Rancho Suspension Kumho Tires
Ford F-150 stayed clean and came out of Turn One in 9th place. On lap
2, he made the pass for 8th. Suddenly as he entered Turn 3, the #20 of
Jim McKenzie hit the rear of his truck sending it over. It took 3 laps
for the truck to get over turned and refired. Quickly the damage was
assessed and unfortunately their day ended early again.

? The first weekend of racing brought out a lot of aggressive driving.
By the time we get to Crandon, the Amsoil PRO-4 truck will be sorted
out and we will challenge for the win. This was our first short course
race on Kumho Tires and they were awesome! The Amsoil products that we
use in the engine and transmission kept the everything running cool,
and as always our Rancho engineered suspension kept the truck?s power
on the ground.? ? commented Scott Douglas.

Scott would like to thank all his supporters including: Rancho
Suspension, Amsoil, Kumho Tires, Ford Trucks, Reider Racing, Precision
Gear, KC Hillites, MSD Ignition, Mastercraft Seats, Howe Performance.
