Jeg Coughlin continues pursuit of Columbus title (NHRA/JEG'S)

Jeg Coughlin continues pursuit of Columbus title

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Jeg Coughlin will continue his pursuit of the Stock
Eliminator title when final eliminations resume today for the 42nd annual Pontiac
Performance Nationals at National Trail Raceway. Coughlin is one of 14 drivers
still in contention for the title out of a starting field of more than 50
contestants. Though he has never raced in Stock before, it didn't take long for
Coughlin to feel comfortable behind the wheel of his friend, Steve Cohen’s
H/SA Chevy Nova.

“I had a couple of tough races today but was fortunate to pick up a pair of
round wins and still be racing on Sunday,?? said the two-time NHRA Pro Stock
champ. “I feel more and more comfortable with each run I make in this car.
Hopefully, I've got a few rounds left in me.??

Coughlin’s older brothers, John, Troy, and Mike were entered in the Columbus
event in Super Stock, Super Comp, and Super Gas, respectively but all three
were defeated on Saturday. John and Mike lost in round two, while Troy
advanced to round three in the Jeg’s Mail Order Corvette before losing a close race
against former U.S. Nationals champion Iggie Boicesco. The brothers will now
focus their attention on helping their younger brother win his 47th NHRA
national event title.

“Our family got off to a great start when all four of us won the first
round, but we ran into a little trouble after that,?? said Jeg. “On the plus side,
we've had a lot of the folks from Jeg’s Mail Order out here this weekend and
they all seem to be having a good time. My brothers and I really appreciate
their support.??
