Line qualifies No. 3 at National Trail Raceway
KIRKERSVILLE, Ohio (May 20, 2006) - After a slow start by KB Racing LLC
standards, Jason Line has been on a "roll". At this weekend's 42nd
Pontiac Performance Nationals presented by Summit Racing Equipment
continued to show why he's close to the top in the NHRA POWERade Pro
Stock point standings by qualifying No. 3.
With this weekend's No. 3 qualifying position, the Wright, Minn.-native,
North Carolina-transplant has qualified in the top five - including two
No. 1s - in seven of the eight races thus far in 2006.
His best of four qualifying runs at National Trail Raceway during
qualifying was an elapsed time of 6.688 seconds. He also set a track
record top speed of 206.61 mph, which Line ran in the final qualify session.
Neither he nor his teammate Greg Anderson took top qualifying honors It
was the first time in the last 14 races, dating back to Indy of the 2005
season, that either Line or Anderson didn't place one of their KB Racing
LLC/Summit Racing Equipment Pro Stock Pontiac GTO in the No. 1
qualifying position.
"It was a nice streak," said Line following qualifying. "All good
things come to an end eventually. It will be up to us to start an even
longer streak beginning next weekend in Topeka. But right now we need
to concentrate on tomorrow's eliminations. We need to go over this
Summit Racing Pontiac from front to back, work on the engine,
everything. We need to make better runs tomorrow."
In the opening round of eliminations, Line will find Dave Northrop in
the opposite lane. Northrop qualified No. 14 with a pass of 6.718
seconds. It will be the first meeting between the two.
Line takes his KB Racing LLC/Summit Racing Equipment Pro Stock Pontiac
GTO to the starting line tomorrow (May 21) when eliminations for the
Pontiac Performance Nationals Pro Stock title get underway at 11 a.m.
