Looks for win No. 5 at Columbus tomorrow
KIRKERSVILLE, Ohio (May 20, 2006) - Anderson, who has earned five No. 1s
this year prior to this weekend's NHRA Pontiac Performance Nationals
presented by Summit Racing Equipment, qualified No. 8 at this year's
event.
The Duluth, Minn.-native, who now lives in the Charlotte, N.C. area, has
won here at National Trail Raceway for the last four years (2002-2005)
and will be going after win No. 5 when eliminations begin tomorrow. A
win will tie Anderson with Pro Stock legend Bob Glidden, who put
together a streak of five consecutive wins from 1979-1983. But Anderson
knows it will take an all-out effort to win another at National Trail
Raceway.
"To win here at Columbus, we've got to make our Summit Racing Pontiac
faster," said Anderson. "That last run was the first clean pass. The
scoreboard said we've didn't go very quick or fast. We've got to figure
out why. We'll put our heads together and be ready for tomorrow."
In the opening round of eliminations, Anderson will face off against
Richie Stevens, Jr., who qualified No. 9 running a pass of 6.696-seconds.
Anderson, behind the wheel of the KB Racing LLC/Summit Racing Equipment
Pro Stock Pontiac GTO, begins his quest for the Pontiac Performance
Nationals Pro Stock title on Sunday, May 21, with eliminations for all
classes beginning at 11 a.m. All times are local Columbus time (ET) and
subject to change at anytime.
