Mid-Ohio Qualifying
Flying Lizard Qualifies Third and Sixth at Mid-Ohio
May 20, 2006--Lexington, Ohio--In this afternoon's qualifying session for Sunday's American Le Mans Series at Mid-Ohio race, Flying Lizard Motorsports' Wolf Henzler qualified the team's No. 45 Porsche third and teammate Darren Law was sixth in the No. 44.
Following his first qualifying session with the Lizards, Henzler reported, "I came in early because of oil on the track. When I went back out, I was able to get within one-tenth of a second of the first-place qualifier on my final lap. The changes that we made in afternoon practice made a difference. I'm happy with the car: it's very consistent at speed and easy to drive. Thanks to the crew who worked so hard today to get to this setup."
In the No. 44, Darren added, "We made significant progress over today's two sessions. We still have some work to do, but overall we're comfortable with the car. We aren't far off the pace and it should be a well-behaved race car for tomorrow."
The Lizards head into the third race of the ALMS season in first place in GT2 team championship points and with Johannes van Overbeek leading in GT2 driver points. The 2 hour and 45 minute race starts at 12:00 pm ET on Sunday, May 21. The race broadcast on CBS Sports begins at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday.
