Sequa CEO Martin Weinstein Honored by Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute

NEW YORK--May 19, 2006--Dr. Martin Weinstein, vice chairman and chief executive officer of Sequa Corporation , has been designated the recipient of the RAA Fellows Award, presented by his undergraduate alma mater, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI).

At a commencement dinner this evening, Dr. Weinstein will receive the Fellows Award from RPI's Department of Materials Science and Engineering. Created in 1987, the Fellows Award honors graduates or friends of RPI who, "by their achievements in a chosen profession or endeavor . . . have set an example for the Rensselaer community to emulate."

Dr. Weinstein is a 1957 graduate of RPI. He subsequently received both an M.S. (1960) and an Sc.D. (1961) in metallurgy from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

A scientist and business executive, Dr. Weinstein was associated for most of his professional career with Chromalloy Gas Turbine Corporation, Sequa's largest business and a leading provider of advanced manufacturing and repair services for jet engines. He was named chief executive officer of Sequa Corporation in January 2005.

Dr. Weinstein holds patents related to diffusion coating of metals and to electronic materials, and he has contributed articles to professional journals in various fields. He has received a number of industry awards, including the Turner Memorial Award of the Electrochemical Society for his work on the thermodynamic properties of liquid metal solutions.
