-FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Heimbach Wins First Career SSP Sprint Car Feature on Thursday Night
Newberrytown, PA (May 18,2006) – Blane Heimbach finally quenched his thirst
of beating the sprint car top guns Thursday night at Susquehanna Speedway
Park. More importantly, it’s the first time the 24-year-old driver from
Selinsgrove claimed a sprint car feature at the speedway. He is the 132nd
different driver to win a main event at SSP.
Larry Hughes Jr. captured the 20-lap Xtreme Stock Car Feature while Bob
Bender Jr. won the Xtreme Stock Car Rookie Rumble main and Rob Casti captured the
12-lap Penn-Mar Vintage Car main.
"This division is so difficult and to get to this level and pass cars means
a lot,?? Heimbach said. It was the 30th career win at the track for car
owner Jeff Creasy. "When you come here, you have to race against guys like
Rahmer, Hodnett and Layton," Heimbach said. "You race against them and watch them
win every weekend. You keep hoping that one day you can beat them.?? Chad
Layton settled for second followed by Greg Hodnett, Fred Rahmer and Cory
Haas.
Bob Bennett grabbed the lead at the start. The field was placed under
caution after the first lap when Glenndon Forsythe stopped in turn 2.Michael
Carber bolted into the second spot on lap 3 and followed Bennett through the next
caution on lap 5 when Alan Krimes had a left-front tire go flat. Heimbach
jumped from third to second on the restart while Carber had stopped after
developing mechanical problems.
Heimbach wrestled the lead from Bennett on lap 8 and cruised over the next
several laps. He was tested on lap 22 when Alan Krimes and Mark Coldren
crashed in turn 2. Heimbach wassuccessful at taking evasive action, but
third-place driver Lance Dewease and Cody Darrah, who was running at the back of the
field, were involved.
Heimbach made contact with Darrah but kept going. The contact broke a rear
shock. Over the last three circuits, Heimbach wired the field while Layton
fought off Hodnett. Bobby Weaver, Craig Keel, Cody Darrah, Bob Bennett and
Glenndon Forsythe completed the top 10. Weaver and Krimes won the heat
races.
Hughes led the final 17 circuits of the Xtreme Stock Car main. He defeated
Bruce McClane, Tom Johns, Rocky Etline and Brent Fogelsanger.
Bob Bender Jr., who drove a car that was a replica to the one owned by his
father and driven by Bobby Goodling and Ronnie Dunstan, led the last two laps
of the Xtreme Stock Car Rookie Rumble. He topped Rich Lomman, Eric
Grinestaff, Randy Gladfelter and Jed Latshaw.
Rob Casti won the Modified portion of the Penn-Mar Vintage Stock Car main.
Willie Brymesser won the Sportsman portion.
The next race at SSP will be tomorrow night, Friday night, May 19 with the
