ItalianCarFest Weekend '06
The ICF website, including the Application for Entry, is ready NOW. Please go to italiancarfest.com
Here is an update on ICF 2006:
For entrants, the weekend starts with the Friday Reception hosted by Texas Driver Magazine at the opulent Gaylord Texan Resort on Friday Sept 8, 2006. Note the drinks are again complimentary.
The main event of the weekend, ItalianCarFest, will be held ON THE WATERFRONT at Lake Grapevine. In addition to the beauty of the Italian machinery, a luxury split-level boat with large capacity will serve as a private lounge for the exclusive use of entrants and sponsors throughout the afternoon. While abroad, complimentary beer, wine, sangria, iced tea and lemonade will be served to entrants. And a staple of ICF continues with live music throughout the show.
A special tent will be erected to display a few a pristine examples of Tom Tjaarda's designs. Mr. Tjaarda will treat entrants and visitors with a commentary about these and other designs during the show.
The hours for Saturday's show are 10 until 4, Sept. 9th.
At the Saturday Evening at Gaylord there will be a Silent Auction for Charity. Last year we raised thousands and this year we hope to raise more for deserving charities. And Mr. Tom Tjaarda will deliver the evening's featured presentation. His topic is one dear to all enthusiasts: auto design. Seating at the dinner is limited to 200.
ICF Track Day is on Sunday, Sept. 10th at Texas Motor Speedway. Because some enthusiasts may wish to use a car other than their Italian ride on the road course, this event is open to all makes of cars. This event is special as it is the first ICCS sponsored track day and special ceremony will be added. Separate registration is required for track day and as an extra enticement an 'early wheel' discount is offered.
That same morning there will be a Scenic Drive followed by the Speedway Brunch in a 9th floor executive condo overlooking the action on the track. Last year this event was a smash and sold out in advance with 67 participants. This year we have made arrangements for up to 90 to attend the brunch.
In keeping with the pricing policy initiated with ICF, the cost to entrants to events is still a bargain. Sponsors continue to generously support this enthusiast weekend by underwriting expenses. Aside from the elegant Gaylord Texan Resort, there are economical lodgings in and near Grapevine, Texas. And ICF offers 'Early Wheels' pricing for entries received prior to Aug. 5th. In short, money is no excuse for missing ICF.
More about Mr. Tom Tjaarda:

Tom Tjaarda, one of the world's most respected car designers, has graciously accepted an invitation to travel from his home in Turin, Italy to attend ItalianCarFest Weekend, Sept. 8-10, 2006 in Grapevine, Texas (near Dallas).
Mr. Tjaarda designed more than a few cars for Fiat, Lancia and Ferrari. Among them were the classic Fiat 124 Spider, the iconic Ferrari 365 GT California Spider, and the Ferrari 330GT. He also designed the DeTomaso Pantera. In 1997, he was honored at the Pebble Beach Concours dŽElegance and regularly serves as a judge at that event.
Still active in the industry, Mr. Tjaarda will make a presentation about car design at the 'ICF Saturday Evening at Gaylord', held at the Gaylord Texan Resort & Convention Center following the all-Italian car show, this year on the waterfront of Lake Grapevine. He will make only 2 other appearances in the US this year.
This is another step in providing Italian car and cycle enthusiasts with a show of national prominence that takes place between the coasts. Last year, the Saturday show attendance was 8,500. This year 12, 000 are expected. With the growth of the weekend and the added prestige of Mr. Tjaarda's presence, 150-200 Italian cars are expected to grace the showfield and bring entrants from 20 states.
ICF Weekend is organized by the Italian Car Club of the Southwest, a 501 (c) (4) organization
