Lots of Racing Action at SSP This Week
Contact: Todd Fisher (717) 292-1696 -FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Sprint Cars and Ugliest Car Contest at SSP on Thursday; Trail Motors Super Sportsman and Late Models Scheduled on Friday NEWBERRYTOWN, PA (May 16, 2006) – The Sprint Cars return to the Susquehanna Speedway Park on Thursday night, May 18 with the Xtreme Stock Cars and Penn Mar Vintage Cars. The Ugliest Car Contest will also be held on Thursday night. The winner will receive $100.00 and will be chosen by the fans in attendance. There is no entry fee, however all entrants must pre-enter by calling (717) 292-1696 or email _toddafish@aol.com_ (mailto:toddafish@aol.com) . Last week’s racing activities were cancelled due to rain. The Trail Motors Super Sportsman will return on Friday, May 19 along with the Late Models and Classic Cars. There will also be a Speedway Auto Sales Mini Van Toll Booth Race. Last Friday night, the non-stop Trail Motors Super Sportsman 20-lap feature event was won by Steve Wilbur. Wilbur fell 0.59 seconds short of breaking the old 20-lap track record held by Danny Hager from 4-16-95. The eleven year old mark was 6 minutes and 31.00 seconds. Joey Hoffer became the fourth different Street Stock winner in as many events. Gates will open for both the pit area and grandstand gates at 5:00 p.m on Thursdays and Fridays. Warmups begin at 7:00 p.m. with racing action beginning at 7:30 p.m. Race fans can continue to expect a fast paced, action packed 2 ½ to 3 hour program each and every night. Regular General Admission Grandstand ticket prices for Thursday nights will be Adults (18 & older) $14.00; Teens (13-17) $10.00; Children (12 & under) are free. Pit pass prices are $22.00 with a reduced price of $20.00 for all pit competitor license holders. Prices will be slightly higher for special events. SSP will continue its Repeat Fan Discount in 2006 in which there will be a $2.00 discount for each person with a ticket stub from races during the previous 2 events completed only. However, as a token of its appreciation to the fans, SSP is offering any fan with a ticket stub from May 4 or May 12, a $2.00 discount to the races on May 18 or 19 only. Returning fans are encouraged to write their name, address and phone number on the back of the stub to be entered into special drawings during the season for great prizes. Last season, 10 winners were drawn from the repeat fans and each winner received $30 in SSP Gift Certificates for tickets or concessions. The discount is not valid for pit pass purchases. The Susquehanna Speedway Park is located off I-83 to exit 32, then 1.4 miles NW on SR382 to York Road, then 1.3 miles south. Raindates will be announced for all events if needed. General admission main grandstand tickets will be $30.00 each for each night of racing. There will be a limited number of 3,000 tickets available for advance purchase for the main grandstand area only. There will also be a limit of 400 children tickets (ages 6-12) available for $12.00 each. Children ages 5 and under will be admitted free. Once the tickets are sold, there will be no more tickets offered for the main grandstand area and pit passes may then be purchased to see the event. All seating will be on a first-come, first-serve basis with the exception of the annual reserved seats. All advance ticket purchasers will be permitted to enter the grandstands one hour prior to the sale of grandstand tickets on raceday in order to pick their seats. Cooler size limits will be strictly enforced. NST tickets may also be purchased now by sending a check or money order for the amount of tickets ordered along with a $4.00 fee per total order to cover the Certified Mail fees. The fees include roundtrip transportation and premium seats in the upper section of turns 3 & 4. The bus will leave from Bumper Bob’s Steak and Seafood at 6:00 a.m. Sunday morning.
