Guy Cosmo Doubles Back To Houston For Friday Night's American Le Mans
Series Lone Star Grand Prix
Houston, Texas - Doing double duty this weekend, Guy Cosmo is
participating in the Houston Lone Star Grand Prix with the #8 B-K
Motorsport LMP2 Mazda team and shuttling back and forth to Phoenix
where he is sitting in for the injured Memo Gidley in the #19 Playboy
Uniden Daytona Prototype car at the GAINSCO Grand Prix.
The Lone Star Grand Prix gets underway at 8PM local time Friday night
in Houston and the GAINSCO Grand Prix will get underway at 7PM
Saturday night in Phoenix.
"First and foremost," stated Guy Cosmo, "I'm most appreciative of the
extraordinary effort both teams went to in order to make this happen.
The guys here at B-K Motorsports have had a full weekend testing our
set-ups on the new Kumho tires and figuring out a brand new
racetrack. Jamie Bach (co-driver) has been doing a yeoman's job
carrying the load."
B-K Motorsports also unveiled a new marketing program with Road &
Track magazine this weekend.
"The Road & Track relationship is not only an excellent match," noted
Cosmo, "it's a compliment to the team and a tribute to the
professional way this team presents itself. The program is going to
be a fantastic vehicle for Mazda and the American Le Mans Series to
advance their respective products to a broader audience of automotive
enthusiasts. I'm proud to be associated with the entire program."
Cosmo was able to get in the car for this afternoon's brief warm-up
session.
"It's definitely a challenging track," Cosmo acknowledged. "There's
not a lot of time to gather your thoughts. The surface presents some
unique challenges and will require a careful mix of finesse and
aggression. I can see a few spots where this track could bite back
pretty hard."
Following tonight's race, Cosmo will grab a few hours sleep and head
to Phoenix in the morning.
"The Playboy Uniden team had a pretty good package when I left
Phoenix," said Cosmo. "Michael McDowell will handle the practice and
qualifying race Friday night, and I will start the car in Saturday
night's race. Michael has been very fast and been doing a great job
in the qualifying races each time we've driven together. He's been
leaving me with excellent starting positions and I trust Phoenix will
be the same."
"The #19 Playboy Uniden team are really hitting their stride," Cosmo
continued. "I really appreciate the opportunity they've afforded me.
Memo is a driver I respect tremendously and I'm honored to sit in for
him."
Guy Cosmo's extensive background with open-wheel formula cars and
