FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
KISS SERIES TO VISIT BLOOMINGTON SPEEDWAY
ON MAY 19
O'NEAL WOOD PRODUCTS MODIFIEDS & TIRE & WHEEL CENTER SUPER STOCKS TO PAY $600 TO WIN
BLOOMINGTON, IN (May 14, 2006) - The KISS (King of Indiana Sprint Series) is in its sixth year. Although the series has been scheduled to compete at Bloomington Speedway each of five years, we were only successful in getting the show in twice. Tony Elliott won in 2003; and Kevin Briscoe won in 2004. In 2001, 2002, and 2005 the weatherman prevailed. We sincerely hope that 2006 will pull us even with the weatherman.
In the five seasons that this series has been run, Jon Stanbrough has won 4 Kiss Series races, more often than any other driver. The way that he has been running this season, you have to like his chances of winning some more KISS races this year. Jon also won the series championship in 2003; and he will certainly be trying to add 2006 to his resume..
Tony Elliott is second in the number of KISS Series race wins with three. Elliott also won the KISS Series race at Bloomington Speedway in 2003. And, he won the series championship 2002. Elliott probably isn't the threat that he was when he occupied the cockpit of the Jeff Walker owned sprinter; but you certainly can't count him out.
Michael Burthay, Kevin Briscoe, and Kent Christian have all won two KISS Series features. Of that group Briscoe and Christian would have to be the favorites to win at Bloomington Speedway. They both compete regularly on the red clay; and they know their way around Mike Miles' carefully manicured oval.
Dick Gaines II won the inaugural KISS Series championship. It seems pretty certain that he won't be recovered enough to compete in the early races, including Bloomington; however, it's possible that he could run some of the later races.
There will be no qualifications to waste time or the track.
So far this season Dick Gaines II and Jon Stanbrough have won sprint car features at Bloomington Speedway. As noted above, Gaines is on the injured list. That would seem to make Stambrough the favorite. However, you can't overlook our two four time track champions, Kevin Briscoe and Derek Scheffel. Both of them have been sorting out new cars; and they may have them ready for victory lane. In addition, there are ten or even more other drivers who are due for a win.
Whatever happens the fans who make their way to Bloomington Speedway are certain to see a great race.
The fact that there are no time trials involved in KISS series races could change the dynamics a little; however, a driver who qualifies well usually also races well. But, an unlucky draw could put a driver at the back of a really tough heat race. This would, of course, make it more difficult for a driver to transfer to the feature through his heat race finish. Also, unlike a race lined up by qualification time, the cars who make their way to the feature through the consy will have to start in the back of the feature. They have no qualification time to get back. Some of the top drivers are bound to have trouble in their heat race. If enough of them have trouble, it could present a monumental chore just to run well enough in the "B" to transfer to the feature. Then, they will get the opportunity to work their way from the back of the feature. It's easy to see why transferring from the heat races is so important.
In addition to a huge field of Sprint Cars, the O'Neal Wood Products modifieds and Tire and Wheel Center super stocks will be in competition. These racers will probably also turn out in huge numbers as they will be racing for $600 to win with proper decals. And, the prize money is better on back too..
Pit gates will open at 4:30 PM, the grandstand gates will open at 5:30 PM, hot laps will start at 6:30 PM, and racing will begin at 7:30 PM. General admission is $15 for this special event. Children 6 and under are admitted free; and children 7-12 are admitted for $5 when accompanied by a paying adult. Pit admission is $25. There will be no entry fee for this special show. Overnight camping is permitted. Coolers are allowed; but glass containers are prohibited.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
KIVA NETWORKING NIGHT
BLOOMINGTON SPEEDWAY FEATURES SPRINTS, MODIFIEDS, & SUPER STOCKS
ON FRIDAY, MAY 26
BLOOMINGTON, IN (May 14) - The good folks at Kiva Networking will be joining us for a great evening of racing on May 26. You never know what they will add to the festivities; but it is certain that we'll know that they're on hand.
By the time that May 26th arrives we should already have five races in the books. The drivers who have had good nights in the five shows will be happily at the top of the points standings. However, they will not be deluded into thinking that they should be comfortable there. A position in the points standings can go bad with a bad outing; and the competitors know it. For that reason, they will race every Friday night as if it were the final race of the season. On the other hand, those competitors who have had a bad start to their season know that they can still recover if they do their job well.
Bloomington Speedway will feature sprint cars, O'Neal Wood Products modifieds, and Tire and Wheel Center super stocks. All three classes typically show up in force every Friday night. The full pits that are a trademark of Bloomington Speedway insure a lot of racing. A typical program includes 12 heat races, 3 B features, and 3 features. At some tracks, a program like that could run to the wee hours of the morning. However, Mike Miles and his able staff do everything in their power to keep the program moving. And, the competitors know that when it's their time to race, they'd better be in the staging area and ready to go. Consequently, most are there when they need to be.
We really never know exactly which competitors will be racing with us on a regular basis until the season is underway. However, we can generally figure on most of our top competitors from the preceding season to return as well as a large portion of the rest of last year's competitors.
The top ten competitors in this year's points are::
Sprint Cars: 1. Kent Christian, 2. Kenny Carmichael, Sr., 3. Kevin Briscoe (tie), 3. Derek Scheffel (tie), 5. Jon Stanbrough, 6. Dick Gaines II, 7. Kenny Carmichael, Jr., 8. Brent Beauchamp, 9. Jared Fox, 10. Bobby Stines
O'Neal Wood Products Modifieds: 1. Ray Humphreym, 2. Jesse Cramer, 3. Matt Boknecht, 4. John DeMoss, 5. Kent Robinson, 6. Ryan Thomas, 7. Clint DeMoss, 8. Jeff Bland, Jr., 9. Ralph Groomer, 10. Greg Deckard
Tire & Wheel Center Super Stocks: 1. Jeremy Hines, 2. Joe Lucas, 3. Jack Frye, 4. Gary Trammell, 5. Winston Howe, 6. Ben DuBois (tie), 6. Chris Hillman (tie), 8. Greg Kendall, 9. Greg Amick, 10. Kevin Arthur
Pit gates will open at 4:30 PM, the grandstand gates will open at 5:30 PM, hot laps will start at 6:30 PM, and racing will begin at 7:30 PM. General admission is $10 for this event (children six and under are admitted free to the grandstand when accompanied by a paying adult; and children 7 - 12 are admitted for only $5 when accompanied by a paying adults.); and pit admission is $20. Coolers are permitted; but glass containers aren't. Overnight camping is also permitted.
