BROWN LEADS MIDGETS TO VENTURA SATURDAY
HUNT WINS ALTAMONT 30-LAPPER
Tyler Brown of Norco, Calif. is the new leader in USAC's Western Midget Car Series, which heads to the Ventura (Calif.) Raceway this Saturday night. A 30-lap feature is scheduled on the 1/5-mile dirt oval.
Brown leads Matt Mitchell by a single point in the new standings. Mitchell was seventh in last Saturday night's 30-lap race at Altamont Motorsports Park in Tracy, Calif., which was won by Tony Hunt. Brown was 13th at Tracy.
Hunt, of Fair Oaks, Calif., passed defending series champion Jerome Rodela on the 15th lap around the 1/2-mile paved Tracy oval and led the rest of the way in his Mr. Espresso Beast/Fontana. Rodela finished second ahead of Ryan Kaplan, Evan Margeson and Ben Petter.
Brown, Rodela and Kaplan all recorded USAC Midget victories at Ventura last year, while Garrett Hansen won there last month.
