FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Bloomington Speedway Rained Out

BLOOMINGTON, IN (May 13, 2005) - It's been a tough week for dirt late model racers and their fans. Out of the four races that were to have been in the books by now, only one of them has been run. And, that race was held at a track new to the series - Thunder Valley Speedway at Salem. The races at Twin Cities Raceway at Vernon, Lawrenceburg Speedway at Lawrenceburg, and Bloomington Speedway were all lost to the weatherman.

The rainouts came as no surprise as rain had been predicted all week; however, that doesn't ease the pain much for late model fans. They had been waiting all season for their big week; and it has been reduced to a maximum of two races out of the five races scheduled.

Mike Miles did something that he doesn't like to do. He called the race at 8:30 a.m. Because of the rain that has been falling for three days, a sunny, windy day would have been needed to get the Bloomington Speedway red clay ready for racing. When Mike arose it was clear that we wouldn't have that kind of day. He then did what he had to do. He called the race a washout. Chance are that very few fans would have made the trip; however, many of the competitors would have. When a race is scheduled, the racers have to go. Since there was obviously no way the race could be run Mike saved as many people as he could from making an unnecessary trip. With the price of fuel being what it is, the racers and fans were saved thousands of dollars.

Dirt Late Model Speedweek moves to Brownstown Speedway tonight. It remains to be seen whether or not the Twin Cities Raceway and Lawrenceburg Speedway races will be rescheduled; however, dirt late model fans will have to wait until next year to see the dirt late models challenge the red clay. Because we have committed to our program for the balance of the season, we will not be able to reschedule our show.

Plan on joining us next Friday night when the King of Indiana Sprint Series (KISS) visits the red clay of Bloomington Speedway. This has turned into a great series; and a lot of top drivers are following this series including a lot of USAC regulars. When these visitors join are tremendous regular competitors, a great show is bound to result.
