AT&T Wins New Global Networking Contract
LAKE FOREST, Ill., May 17, 2006 -- AT&T Inc. announced today that it has won a $10 million global networking contract over three years from Tenneco Inc. , one of the world's largest designers, manufacturers and marketers of emission control and ride control products and systems for the automotive original equipment market and the aftermarket.
Under terms of the agreement, AT&T will deploy an Internet Protocol Virtual Private Network (IP VPN), integrating 113 Tenneco locations across North America, Latin America, Europe and Asia-Pacific with a full range of voice, data and business continuity services.
Tenneco manufactures and markets emission control products that enable auto manufacturers to meet stricter global emissions standards and ride control products that enhance vehicle stability and handling. The company sells these products worldwide under such well-known brand names as Monroe(R), Walker(R), Gillet(R) and Clevite(R)Elastomers.
With manufacturing, engineering and technical centers around the world, Tenneco needed a high speed networking platform for enhanced corporate connectivity and increased bandwidth to support real-time engineering and business process collaboration globally.

With the AT&T networking solution, Tenneco gains greater levels of security and speed for the company's e-mail, proprietary applications, databases and billing functions. The solution also supports Tenneco's business continuity plan by providing automatic backup and rerouting to another facility in the event of a network disruption or disaster.
The new network, which runs on AT&T's industry-leading Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) platform, paves the way to Voice over IP (VoIP) services in the future. Tenneco can also monitor the performance of its network and applications through the secure AT&T customer portal, AT&T BusinessDirect(R), which provides operational efficiencies including around-the-clock online access to real-time reports on network performance and direct connection to trouble management systems.
In addition, AT&T will provide hosting services for Tenneco from one of its 30 Internet Data Centers (IDCs) around the world.
