Isuzu achieves record pretax profit

TOKYO May 17, 2006; Japan Today reported that Isuzu Motors Ltd said Tuesday its consolidated pretax profit in fiscal 2005 rose 2.5% from the previous year to a record 93.84 billion yen on 1.58 trillion yen in sales, up 5.9%.

Group operating profit for the year that ended March 31 also hit an all-time high of 90.66 billion yen, up 4%, said the truck maker, in which General Motors Corp has decided to sell its 7.9% stake. But group net profit fell 1.8% to 58.96 billion yen due to losses on dismantlement of a former plant and other factors.
