Chevron Launches New Food-Machinery Greases; Chevron FM and Texaco Cygnus Now Available in Aluminum Complex and Calcium Sulfonate Formulations

SAN RAMON, Calif.--May 15, 2006--Chevron Products Company is introducing two new greases developed specifically for the food processing and canning industries. The products, marketed as Chevron FM and Texaco Cygnus(R), are available in Aluminum Complex (ALC) and Calcium Sulfonate (CSC) formulations.

Both formulas offer excellent wear and rust protection and are highly water resistant to help prolong machinery life and reduce maintenance costs. To meet industry needs and to offer greater flexibility to customers, ALC and CSC versions are available under both the Chevron FM and Texaco Cygnus brands. Both comply with the Food and Drug Administration's (FDA) requirement of lubricants where there is a possibility of incidental food contact. Both are registered NSF (H1) and are Kosher and Pareve approved.

These high performing greases are based on an advanced, calcium sulfonate thickener technology that offers exceptional water washout and corrosion protection, along with exceptional extreme pressure (EP) characteristics.

These formulations are available in NLGI 2 and 1 grades, offering solutions for general plant lubrication and applications where grease is exposed to high temperatures and needs extreme-pressure properties. They are extremely resistant to corrosion even in the presence of salt sprays, and are especially effective in areas with high degrees of cascading water or actual bearing submergence. The greases are readily adaptable to centralized greasing systems and are easily handled in conventional grease-pumping equipment.

These multi-purpose, aluminum complex food-grade products do very well in areas where direct water spray and grease spray-off is an issue. The formulation is available in NLGI grades 2, 1, and 0. They offer solutions from low temperature operations to general plant lubrication and applications where grease is exposed to high temperatures. All grades contain specially blended higher viscosity white mineral oils that improve the adhesive tenacity of the grease. The greases also are readily adaptable to centralized greasing systems and are easily handled in conventional grease-pumping equipment.
