DEARBORN, MI - May 11, 2006: Vehicle crashes are the No. 1 killer of teenagers in America. Nearly 6,000 teens die annually in such accidents, according to the National Highway Traffic Administration.

Studies demonstrate that crash rates decline considerably as young drivers gain experience, and Ford Motor Company’s Driving Skills for Life teen safety program helps young drivers learn to improve their skills on the road.

To help spread the message, Ford Motor Company’s Driving Skills for Life program has launched a new Web site with innovative features designed to help young drivers improve their skills behind the wheel while offering an opportunity to win terrific prizes.

“We are very excited about this new Web site,” said Sue Cischke, Ford Vice President, Environmental and Safety Engineering. “This program is primarily Web-based, and we hope to reach teens, parents and educators in all 50 states with this important training that can save lives.”

The site, www.drivingskillsforlife.com, has a registration feature that provides visitors with user names and passwords.

While on the site, teens can complete various e-learning modules, pass a safe driving quiz, play safe driving games and complete a variety of other online activities. Several features on the site award points that teens may use to enter into prize drawings. Among the prizes are a laptop computer, digital camera, gift certificates and Ford die cast vehicles.
