"The management at the Dana Glacier Vandervell bearing facility leads with a strategy that is clear, focused, and consistently executed. The Industrial Excellence Award is great recognition for the team's hard work and effective performance," said Philippe Jean, regional vice president, business development, Dana Europe. "This prestigious award reinforces Dana's company-wide commitment to innovation and exceptional customer service."

Winning companies were determined through a site visit conducted by representatives from INSEAD, an internationally renowned management school and one of the top business universities in Europe. The tour involved a critical examination focusing on several facets of plant operations, including strategy, supplier management, production, continuous improvement, product and process development, customer and service management, and human resources management.

The results of the site visit were documented in a visit report, which summarizes the observations and offers suggestions. The report found management of the plant to be impressive, with a clearly developed and executed strategy, as well as exceptional ideas.

"In the face of the rough competition of the excellent field of finalists, we have been impressed by this plant's clear strategy, the management team, comprehensive goal cascading, and clever use of technology," said Christopher Loch, professor of technology and operations management, INSEAD.

INSEAD's Industrial Excellence Award examines the role of management at the business unit level. The award recognizes excellent manufacturing processes in companies that have operations in France, Germany, Spain, Portugal, or Eastern Europe.

Dana's Glacier Vandervell plant produces high-performance coatings and sputter bearings. The plant also supplies high-volume half bearings for European engine and vehicle manufacturers.
