Hella Honored by General Motors as Supplier of the Year
PLYMOUTH, Mich., May 10, 2006 -- Hella KGaA Hueck & Co., a global supplier of automotive electronics and lighting components and systems, was named as a General Motors "Supplier of the Year" for its overall business performance in providing world-class parts and services.
"We consider Hella to be a role model for all suppliers," said Bo Andersson, Vice President of Global Purchasing and Supply Chain. "They are recognized as a GM Supplier of the Year because they exceeded our expectations in 2005. Hella is one of the best in the world and we thank them for their hard work and commitment to helping make GM vehicles the best in the world."
The award was presented to Dr. Juergen Behrend, Hella Chairman and President, during recent ceremonies at the GM Technical Center in Warren, Michigan.
"This important recognition by the world's largest vehicle manufacturer is quite an honor for our company and our people," Behrend noted. "It underscores our commitment to providing high-quality products and developing new, innovative technologies for our customers."
The GM Supplier of the Year award began as a global program in 1992. Winners are selected by a global team of executives from purchasing, engineering, manufacturing and logistics who base their decisions on supplier performance in quality, service, technology and price. This year, General Motors honored 85 suppliers for their outstanding performance throughout 2005.
A global supplier, Hella KGaA Hueck & Co. develops and manufactures components and systems for lighting and electronics for the automotive industry, including advanced driver-assistance systems enhancing safety and comfort. In addition, joint venture companies produce complete vehicle modules, air-conditioning systems and vehicle-electric systems. Hella is one of the world's largest companies selling automotive parts and accessories, with its own sales companies and partners in more than 100 countries.
