AdStar's Technology Connects Manheim's L.A.-Area Auto Dealerships to MediaNews Group Interactive's L.A. Newspapers
More Than 5,000 Los Angeles Dealerships to Have Direct Ad Connection to Los Angeles Newspaper Group's Seven Daily Newspapers
MARINA DEL REY, Calif. and DENVER, May 10 -- AdStar, Inc. today announced that MediaNews Group Interactive's (MNGi) Los Angeles Newspaper Group (LANG) will be the first MNGi publications to use AdStar's E-commerce Platform to connect to Manheim's AdManager application. Manheim's automotive dealership advertising software is currently used by more than 5,000 Manheim Auctions' dealers in greater Los Angeles. As a result of the agreement, Manheim's L.A.-area dealers will be able to use AdManager to create, schedule and pay for classified ads, and then submit the ads directly into the advertising systems of LANG newspapers for publication in both print and online editions of the newspapers.
LANG newspapers include the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin, Long Beach Press-Telegram, Los Angeles Daily News, Pasadena Star-News, San Bernardino Sun, San Gabriel Valley Tribune, and Whittier Daily News. LANG has a paid circulation of more than 600,000, with 1.4 million daily readers and 1.5 million Sunday readers. LANG's newspaper Web sites also attract more than 1.8 million unique visitors each month.
"This agreement with AdStar is further validation of the breadth of AdStar's e-commerce technology," said Mike Higgins, chief operations officer of MNGi. "We recently converted our newspapers to AdStar's Web based Ad Sales system, and part of the justification was the potential that AdStar's platform offered to attract third parties like Manheim whose dealerships want to reach our newspapers' readers and visitors to our newspapers' Web sites. We are excited about this opportunity because it provides our publications with an inexpensive way to put cost-effective advertising offers in front of smaller dealers in an environment they use every day."
AdStar's XML Gateway Platform Services and EdgCapture payment processing technologies provide a seamless connection between newspapers' legacy advertising systems, the publishers' Web sites, and Manheim's AdManager. This connectivity simplifies the ad placement process for Manheim's automotive dealers and allows them to efficiently create, schedule and place one or multiple ads from their desktops.
LANG newspapers now have a direct channel for automotive dealers to place ads 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
"Our partnership with MNGi is one of many opportunities that continue to provide us with a laboratory in which we can develop new and exciting e-commerce revenue streams for newspaper publishers," said Leslie Bernhard, president and chief executive officer of AdStar. "L.A. dealerships place thousands of ads in MNGi newspapers every week, and our technology will now make it easier for these dealerships to manage their print and online advertising campaigns from the convenience of their desktops. Los Angeles is one of several MediaNews Group markets that we anticipate to launch through the next several quarters, and we are excited about these opportunities that extend the reach of our technology beyond the traditional newspaper publisher. Our technology equally benefits newspaper publishers, advertisers and Manheim, which can use our solution to conduct business faster and easier."
