AIAG Conference Presents Solutions to Confront Escalating Automotive Warranty Costs
DETROIT, May 10, 2006 -- The Automotive Industry Action Group's (AIAG) second annual Early Warning Standards - Warranty Conference on June 6, 2006, at the Rock Financial Showplace in Novi, Mich., will present solutions for reducing warranty claims to save automotive OEMs and suppliers millions of dollars annually. OEMs and suppliers reported almost $13 billion in warranty claims in 2005, an 8 percent increase from 2004, according to AMR Research.

Panel discussions and presentations will focus on improving working relationships, communications and processes to lower spiraling warranty costs, including the progress made on AIAG's Early Warning Standards (EWS) project in which OEMs, suppliers and dealers have been working together on a standard to reduce the detection-to-correction time for faulty parts. Insights on strategies and technologies to achieve flawless product launches, the causes of warranty claims, issues to consider when deploying an EWS system, benchmarking warranty processes from the heavy-truck and aerospace industries also will be shared. Additionally, keynote speaker Eric Arnum, Warranty Week, will summarize the trends in automotive warranty data over the last three years.
