Exports From Japan Automakers Up 29 Percent
Washington DC May 8, 2006; The AIADA newsletter reported that exports from Japan to the U.S. were up 29 percent in the first quarter of 2006. Shipments to the U.S. accounted for 36.1 percent of all exports in the quarter, up from 32.7 percent a year earlier, reports Automotive News.
Most of the major Japanese automakers increased exports to North America, highlighted by Toyota's jump to 33.2 percent and Mazda's 41 percent.
