AAA Show Your Card & Save Program Saves Members More Than $513 Million in 2005

ORLANDO, Fla.--May 8, 2006--AAA members put their membership cards to work in 2005, saving over $513 million on everything from computers and shoes to prescription drugs and theme park tickets.

With the Show Your Card & Save(R) discount purchasing program, AAA members can save on products and services when they show their card at thousands of locations across the country and throughout the world.

Savings have grown more than 160 percent since 2000, when members saved $315 million by showing their AAA card. Transactions have also nearly doubled in the past five years, up from 12.1 million in 2000 to nearly 20.6 million in 2005.

"Many AAA members are surprised to learn that their membership card is also a valuable savings card," said Tom Wilt, managing director, AAA Partnership Programs. "While expenses continue to rise, this is just one of the ways we help our members save money on the things they want to buy."

Both local merchants and international brand partners participate in the Show Your Card & Save program. In the United States, members can save at more than 40 national partners and thousands locally. In 2005, OfficeMax.com, Target.com, New York & Company and PlanetFone joined a growing list of Show Your Card & Save partners to offer discounts and savings to more than 49 million AAA members.

AAA members can also save when they travel internationally. More than 61 automobile/touring clubs in other countries provide membership card-based savings to AAA members while they are visiting those countries. Participating auto clubs are in Canada, Mexico, Japan, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and many countries in Europe.
