HULKAMANINA KICKS OFF BUSY WEEK AT VERSATILE IRWINDALE SPEEDWAY

IRWINDALE, Calif. (April 27, 2006) – One thing for sure, there is never a dull moment at Irwindale Speedway. This week’s schedule of activities is proof of how versatile the multi-purpose motor sports facility is.

On Wednesday WWE wrestling legend Hulk Hogan and his son Nick visited Irwindale Speedway to film an upcoming VH1 network episode of Hogan Knows Best, the reality based series chronicling the adventures of the Hogan family. In the episode shot on the Speedway’s oval track, Nick, who recently acquired his drivers learning permit, learns the basics of the sport of Drifting from D1 Grand Prix driver Samuel Hubinette.

Test and Tune, the popular activity held weekly takes place Thursday (April 27) under the lights from 5-10p.m. The activity allows local drag racers the opportunity race their street legal cars on Irwindale Speedway’s 1/8-mile drag strip. It costs only $20.00 to race, $10.00 to watch ($5.00 for kids 12-6 yrs. and 5 yrs. and under are admitted for free).

Racing action returns to Irwindale Speedway’s oval track Saturday night (April 29) on Indian Guides Night. Five races are scheduled including the Auto Club Late Models, Justice Brothers Pure Stocks, Legend Cars, Bandoleros and the Pick Your Part Figure 8’s featuring Jesse James, host and master builder of the Discovery Channel’s Monster Garage Series. Gates open at 4 p.m., with practice and qualifying sessions. Fan appreciation autograph session with take place on the track at 5:45 p.m., with the first green flag waved at 7 p.m.

Sunday (April 30) Longo Scion hosts Triathlon II at Irwindale Speedway, a must attend event for Scion enthusiasts. The event will be held from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. and will feature competition on the drag strip along with car show and car audio competitions and other activities.
