Daewoo to Showcase 3DVU's Visual Map Navigation Technology at the Busan International Motor Show, Korea
First public showing of 3DVU technology on Daewoo Precision target car navigation system.
Busan, South Korea April 29, 2006 -- Daewoo Precision Industries is the first to develop and commercialize car navigation systems in Korea, is securing its leadership position by showing its next generation of 3D image maps with terrain elevation based on 3DVU technology at Busan International Motor Show running until May 7th.
This is the first public showing of 3DVU patented technology running on Daewoo’s car navigation system. Daewoo’s car navigation system is based on the Freescale MPC5200 CPU with QNX’s operating system showing aerial imagery and terrain elevation in a 3D perspective. 3DVU, a leading global provider of 3D digital visualization of imagery, map data and other geographic content, overcome major technical barriers to enhance the mobile navigation experience. 3DVU patented technology provides smooth continuous movements with a 3D perspective over images that include terrain elevation in such limited computing devices.
“This is only a glimpse of what Korean drivers will be able to enjoy in their car navigation system shortly” noted Isaac Levanon 3DVU chairman and Chief Executive Officer.
“Others are following Daewoo’s lead to enable automakers to offer the most advanced navigation aid with 3DVU Visual Map technology” added Levanon.
About 3DVU
3DVU was established in the year 2000 to revolutionize the way in which we view, navigate and interact with our world. 3DVU has developed a unique and patented technology that streams imagery and elevation and presents it in a 3D perspective on any digital device, anywhere in the world.
This technology presents the most realistic navigation aid available on any digital device enabling in-car navigation systems, PDAs, PNDs, mobile handsets and PCs to display realistic, 3D virtual worlds. Using Visual Map™, satellite and aerial imagery, terrain elevation, mapping data - such as points of interest and route information - this information can now be streamed over limited-bandwidth communications with realistic 3D views and smooth maneuverability.
3DVU is changing the face of mapping by providing the freedom to look at the world in a more realistic manner. The company is strategically partnered with carmakers; navigation systems, mobile devices and handset developers; major satellite and aerial imagery-sensing entities; and mapping and GIS data providers.
