CSK Auto Continues Growth in Key Western Markets

PHOENIX--April 27, 2006--CSK Auto, Inc. , operator of more than 1,270 Checker, Schuck's, Kragen, and Murray's auto parts stores throughout 22 Western and Midwestern states, celebrated the grand opening of 11 new Denver-area and Salt Lake-area stores in March and early April.

"We are opening stores in existing markets like Denver and Salt Lake City that are experiencing very strong population growth and can quickly drive new store traffic and sales," said Martin Fraser, President of CSK Auto. "Checker Auto Parts has the added advantage of being the name-brand market leader in these areas."

CSK's recent acquisition of Murray's Discount Auto Stores in late 2005 will also help drive new store growth in 2006. Murray's added 110 existing stores in Michigan, Illinois, Ohio and Indiana - states in which CSK had no real market presence - enabling CSK to gain a presence in new, contiguous markets or increase its presence in existing markets, all the while keeping the Murray's brand name that is well-known and trusted in the Midwest.

"Our acquisition of Murray's puts CSK into new markets and will allow us to fill-in with new stores from Chicago to Cleveland," said Maynard Jenkins, Chairman and CEO of CSK Auto. "We believe these are currently under-served markets in the Do-It-For-Me (DIFM) category, and we plan to open CSK commercial centers, serving DIFM customer needs, in approximately 50 Murray's stores by 2007."

Checker, Schuck's, and Kragen stores range in size from 6,000 to 8,000 square feet. Murray's Discount Auto Stores average 10,500 square feet. All stores offer a broad selection of national brand name and generic automotive products for domestic and imported cars and light trucks, including new and remanufactured automotive replacement parts, maintenance items and accessories. The stores also sell a wide variety of power and hand tools, as well as power equipment such as air compressors, pressure washers, and electric generators.

New Store Openings Since Murray's Acquisition

Since the Murray's acquisition on December 19, 2005, CSK Auto has opened 25 new stores.
