Oshkosh Truck Subsidiary Pierce Introduces New 100-Foot Aluminum Aerial Ladder
OSHKOSH, Wis.--April 27, 2006--Oshkosh Truck Corporation , announced today that its fire apparatus subsidiary, Pierce Manufacturing Inc., has expanded its aerial product line with the introduction of a 100-foot heavy-duty aluminum aerial ladder. The aerial delivers the highest distributed load ratings of any aluminum ladder in the industry.The new Pierce(R) 100-foot aluminum aerial ladder's dry tip-load rating is the industry's highest at 750 pounds, with an additional 100 pounds of capacity at the tip for fire fighter equipment. The ladder is rated to 500 pounds while flowing up to 1500 gallons per minute. Pierce aluminum ladders use 6061-T6 aluminum extrusions for superior strength.

The 100-foot aluminum ladder features Pierce's H-style stabilizers that can be quickly set into place with a 12-foot spread; and just a 10-foot spread when short-jacked. The 100-foot ladder has a 2.5:1 structural safety factor, a 35 mph wind load rating and can operate with 1/4 inch of ice build-up.
