Insurance Auto Auctions Opens New Auction Site in Kansas City
WESTCHESTER, Ill.--April 24, 2006--Insurance Auto Auctions, Inc., a leader in automotive total loss and specialty salvage services in the United States, today announced the opening of its newest service center located in Kansas City, Kansas. The new facility replaces an existing site roughly doubling the capacity of the old location. The new facility is located with convenient access to Interstate freeways and features ample office and meeting space, fully paved sale and vehicle storage areas, an indoor vehicle inspection center and a four-bay Run & Drive(R) auction facility. The Kansas City site also offers I-bid LIVE, IAA's live auction Internet bidding product. From a geographic standpoint, the larger facility will enable the company to more efficiently service the Eastern part of Kansas and West-central parts of Missouri - fully complementing existing facilities in Missouri, Nebraska and Kansas (Wichita)."Due to the significant demand for our services in the area, the original facility in Kansas City was simply not big enough," said Tom O'Brien, CEO of IAA. "Our buyers and vehicle providers will both benefit from the additional space and improved features offered at the new location. The re-facilitation will enable us to process a larger volume of vehicles, offer a greater selection of product to buyers and help us add to the positive momentum we're experiencing in providing record returns to our suppliers."
Buyer interest and participation at IAA auctions is on the rise not only in Kansas City, but all over the country. Year-to-date in 2006, the Company has seen a 24 percent increase in overall attendance, while online auction participation has extended to 65 different countries.
"IAA's combination of live auctions and live auction Internet bidding has proven to be the best option in the market, demonstrated by the extensive growth in our buyer base and record salvage returns," added O'Brien. "The hybrid auction format appeals to buyers of all types, and expanding our base of buyers strengthens our ability to provide the best returns for our suppliers. The returns we are currently generating on behalf of our suppliers are again breaking all-time highs, and facility expansions and improvements such as the one in Kansas City will continue to help facilitate future growth."
